Not all those who wander are lost! But who will not want to be lost forever in this dream of curved pathways, snow capped mountains, a clear sun, vagrant white clouds, azure sky, dreamy names of Pir&Panjal! Just like a fairy tale!

HPTDC divides Tourism at Himachal in 4 circuits namely Beas, Dauladhar, Sutlej and Tribal circuit. While each one is unique in itself and has to offer a variety of experiences, the most famous are the Dauladhar covering Dharamshala, McLeodgunj, Palampur, Dalahousie, Khajjiar and the Beas covering the famous honeymoon destinations of Kullu and Manali. Dauladhar circuit is a blend of beauty, adventure as well as blissful for those looking for spiritual awakening.

Set out by road from Chandigarh and you can visit Mansa Devi, Naina Devi, Jwala Devi, Sheetla Devi, Chamunda Devi, Chintpurni Devi, Brajeshwari Devi with not too much diversions on your way to Dharamshala. Hindu mythology places importance to these temples as part of the 51 Shaktipeethas. You could also visit Anandpur Sahib (One of the 5 Takhts in Sikh mythology) which is just before Una enroute to Dharmashala.

‘If it weren’t for the rocks, the stream would have no song’. It was melodious with a subtle sound of water, just touching the stones as not to hurt them, birds chirping just enough to fill the empty spaces creating a perfect rhapsody and the mind dancing to such lively tunes.

Just get drenched in the atmosphere of this ever lively and positive place, McLeodgunj is just like a dual town of Dharamshala at higher grounds. Soak in the nature, visit the Namgyal Monestry for the ultimate peace of mind, have road side momos, visit the Tibetan restaurants, do some street shopping and ofcourse have the best Thupka ever.

Have it in you! Then go to the scenic 7km Triund trek else settle for some fitness test by climbing up for Bhagsu Falls and from there go to the infamous or famous Shiva cafe. Electrifying atmosphere, bustling crowd, elaborate menu will keep you there for sometime.

And you ask – What if I fail, oh darling what if I fly!! Experience paragliding at the paragliding capital of India, @ Bir Billing. Stay at Palampur and visit around to enjoy the beauty of Kangra Valley. A secluded place called ‘Seclude’ Can provide a clandestine shelter if you don’t want to be found to anyone including your phone network. Bir is just a 2 hour drive from Dharamshala.

Set at an elevation of 2000 m above sea level, this town of Dalhousie, set in the colonial era, is still exemplary of neatly planned streets and colonial era architecture of the buildings that are a marvel to witness amidst the lush green surroundings and snow capped peaks of the Himalayas.

Stay at a wonderful homestay ‘Tilsharit Greens’ at Banikhet and visit around to see Chamera Lake & Dam, Chamba, Kalatop, go for a little trek of Daikund (must see) and enjoy breathtaking views, don’t forget to eat hot Maggi amidst the cool breeze and the view (hot Maggie tastes like heaven in hills). Go for evening stroll at the Mall Road, eat some street food, do a bit of local shopping.

Visit Khajjiar which is called Mini Switzerland of India, however, be cautioned of a little disappointment!! Apart from the vast green landscape and pine trees, the natural lake in between is reduced to a dirty pond. Go for a horse ride, eat local food, Indulge in Zorbing and leave before it gets too cold. Khajjiar is a 1.5 hours drive from Dalhousie.

The first time I saw you my heart whispered, ‘You are the one’ – Keep longing to go back to this magical world for many days to come and pray that you get lost forever here!

Himachal is beautiful beyond words indeed.
