This Solo Trip to the Hills Completely Changed the Way I Travel and Heres What I Learnt

Day 1

Have you ever been a solo trip? If your answer is no then I must say you should plan one ASAP. I'll share one of my best weekend solo escapes to inspire you to head off on your own little adventure! I have done this many times and after all of the experiences, I can say that my recent weekend trip to Shimla was one of the best.

Here's why:

Shimla

I booked my tickets from Delhi to Kalka on a Friday night and it cost me 600 INR For a 3rd AC train ticket.

Then next day morning I reached Kalka. From Kalka I took the Himdarshan Express train to Shimla which cost me 800 INR with a scenic journey to Shimla.

The toy train ride for 6 hours alone sitting on the window side, reading a book and sipping on hot tea made my journey totally worth it.

Once I reached Shimla, I checked in at my hostel which I booked in advance. If you want to book the same then I can tell you the name of the hostel: Theera Shimla (500 per night). It is walking distance from Mall road. It took me 15 minutes from the railway station to get here. As soon as I checked into my hostel I went out for a quick lunch.

I had lunch at a very fancy place on Mall Road. Solo trips are fun because you can order whatever you wish to without asking anybody's likes and dislikes. Do you agree?

Ashiyaana Restaurant has a very beautiful view of the mountains!

Post lunch I went outside because it was snowing and I got super excited for snowfall because it was the first time that I was witnessing it.

I didn't have a clue that I will randomly ask a stranger for a picture near this beautiful church on Mall road and she will become a friend later :) Solo trips surprise you in may ways.

I met Riddhi from Mumbai at this church. She was also traveling solo for 10 days in Himachal Pradesh and we connected very quickly. She was camera shy so we ended up taking this picture with our cookies on the road :)

Because I went for a weekend trip I had only one night on my hand. Next day early morning Riddhi and I decided to meet near the Ridge and we spent all day together walking on the streets having local food and talking like friends.
