Inspired to Ride

Last year I was on a road trip with my family to Spiti Valley, there I saw a group of 5 to 6 people coming there at such a high altitude of 15500 ft in their own bikes, riding from New Delhi.

We were inside the Innova car and it was pretty hard to breathe due to low levels of oxygen. But they were chasing the Himalayas by pushing themselves in such a diverse conditions, they were following snow capped mountains, living their dreams and enjoying in the direct serenity of Spiti Valley.

That day I felt the urge to ride into himalayas and had a thought that someday I will surely make it to the Himalaya in a bike.

Then comes a day when I decided to put my plans and dreams into action. I shared my desire to ride a motorcycle with my family and friends, my husband started teaching me riding in week offs. My first lesson started with the weight management of the vehicle I will be riding. I still remember his lines "One must know how to handle the vehicle he or she is riding". This helps me a lot in learning the technicalities of a motorcycle. I practiced handling with Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 then used my brother's Bajaj Avenger in getting ride-on lessons. Slowly I started practicing daily after coming back from office. Sometimes in Sundays we just used to roam around in our bike in nearby places. This way I managed to learn riding a bike.

Wish to start From India Gate

I have heard many riding groups in New Delhi starts their any ride from "India gate" - a starting point - all the riders meets there, from there they start their riding trip. So it was one of my wish to start my dream run, to begin my innings as a RIDER from India Gate.

Dream Run Starts..

After 2 weeks of learning, 25th Mar 2018 - is the day we chose for riding to India Gate and decided to leave by early morning.

What happened in Riding day...

We woke up around 5 am (I couldn't sleep all night due to anxiety you can say), got ready by 5:45 am and is ready to leave but as we had a plan for vlogging, we decided to leave after sunrise so that we could shoot our vlog in the daylight.

We left around 6:30 from home. It was a bright morning with fresh air breezes making the ride much more comfortable and enjoyable. We were both connected to a Intercom, so I was constantly being guided with the route. After a 25-30 minutes ride we finally reached and I got a first glimpse of India gate.

We parked our bikes in a parking lot, and head towards the India Gate. India Gate is originally named as "All India War Memorial" located in RajPath. Its a memorial for 70000 soldiers who died in the period 1914–21 in the First World War. We took a round of Amar Jawan Jyoti - a structure consisting of black marble plinth, with reversed L1A1 Self-loading rifle, capped by war helmet, bound by four urns, each with the permanent light (jyoti) from (CNG) flames,[12] erected under the India Gate to commemorate Indian soldiers killed in the defense of their country. We spent some time there and had a nice Tea.

All Happy to reach there.. a great feeling!!!

After staying there for an hour, around 9'0 clock we decided to head back to our home. This time it took around 45 mins to reach home, we had a nice ride, reached safely; it was a great experience overall.

So it was a well-spent Sunday with a one step ahead to my dreams. On a ending note all I would say "You have to dream before your dreams can come true." -- A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. You need to throttle your potential by refusing to think "what if?". You have to start dreaming before you can achieve anything. Never stop believing in yourself.

You can catch the glimpse of our whole ride and my experience in the vlog we shot below :
