Every year I make a list of countries that I want to travel. This year aka 2020 too, I made one such list of countries. But as the world would have it, its hit by a pandemic which no one would have ever imagined in their wildest dreams. Forget travel, most of us couldn't leave the confines of four walls.
As the year progressed most hopelessly, I started crossing one country off my list every three months as the probability of pandemic getting over soon kept diminishing. We are now entering in December and the chances still look bleak, so, I think I would just cut one last country and forward them all to 2021 with crossed fingers!
MY 2020 travel list
1. TAIWAN - In February, I visited the first country of 2020 not knowing it would soon become the last one too.
Taiwan is a beautiful country, and this was my second time there. On my trip, I visited beautiful lakes, ancient villages, got a chance to witness the famous lantern festival and enjoyed a lot of bubble tea. I was also lucky enough to catch the cherry blossom as it comes early in Taiwan
If all had gone well, the other countries I would have visited in 2020
2. South Korea - I wanted to visit South Korea in March as its when the cherry trees bloom. I covered Japan last year, and I couldn't have had enough of cherry trees. Also, I wanted to explore the unique Korean cafes, learn about the K Pop culture, explore Buddhist temples and buy some chic cosmetics and trendy clothes.
3.Ireland - My friends moved to Ireland last year and ever since they have been calling me to take a trip. And since May is the best time I wanted to travel to Ireland. I have a long list of places I wanted to cover, like cliffs of Moher, explore beaches, take a trip to small towns nearby, explore Grafton street famous for shopping and last but not the least drink all the world-class beer.
4. London - I also decided to club Ireland with London and spend some time in London. I wanted to see the Changing of The Guards at Buckingham Palace, see the Big Ben and The Houses of Parliament, Cruise from Westminster to Tower Bridge and on a weekend visit Scotland which is well-connected via train from London.
5.Georgia - Last year, I wanted to visit Georgia in september, but my plans went haywire, and I went to Italy instead. So this year my probabilty was really high... In Georgia, more than its cities and food I wanted to visit for its countryside's landscape. I wanted to hike in Kajbegi and Svaneti regions - Both places are a pilgrim for adventurous travellers. Its got extensive glaciers and hiking trails & scenery to die for!
6.India - I end every year by visiting my family in India. I love spending a good one month in India as its Diwali time. I also take one trip to the mountains and other to the beaches within that time. This time I wanted to travel to Kalga and stay for minimum a week and take my parents to Goa for a weekend!!!
These are the places that were in my list for 2020 which I think I will now carry forward to next year!!!
