Travel is an everlasting experience. Whether you travel for studies, employment, or a vacation, you will come across different cultures, people, and places. These exposures shape us for good. It is so blissful to absorb every picturesque site that comes our way while traveling. Even memories of old trips make us hum our inner hymn. Traveling can be a pleasurable and most satisfying activity. Traveling worldwide, exploring places never seen before is a fantasy for almost everybody. We all hope for a getaway from the daily monotonous routine. But when the exotic much-awaited opportunity finally arrives, our excitement and preoccupation make us overlook some important things.
So let's try to cover a checklist of essential things you should not miss out on during your fascinating foreign trip.
Passport
A passport is the most necessary item needed for international travel. It gets issued in your name to prove your country of citizenship. You get identified by your passport when you travel internationally. Without a passport, you can not leave or re-enter your country. Most countries require a travel visa for entry; without a passport, the visa can not be issued. So make sure to apply for a passport if you don't have one ahead of time when planning an overseas trip because you won't get very far without it.
Charger adapter
Make sure to get an appropriate charger adapter for your phone, tablets, and laptop before boarding a plane because we all know the feeling when they run out of battery. Countries have different charging plugs and voltages. So research in advance what type of plug pin is used where you are planning to travel. A universal adapter with multiple plug pins is the best option. You can get it at the airport, but if you want to save on insane airport prices, buy it ahead of time.
First-aid
Being cautious by bringing a first-aid is advisable when you travel. If you plan on trekking, kayaking, hiking, or spending time in the water, you must carry disinfectants and bandages with you in case of any cuts, scrapes, or blisters. It's ideal to have a provision of medicines while traveling for headaches, stomach aches, or period pains. To keep hydrated, bring electrolytes too.
Hygiene kit
Don't forget a toiletry bag. Packing shampoo, shower gel, toothpaste, deodorant, creams will comfort you for the initial days of the trip, and keep the sizes small as you can buy it locally wherever you go. Try to avoid unnecessary items by keeping the calculation of space and weight in mind. We don't want gooey liquids spoiling everything, so leave it behind if possible.
Portable phone charger
In case of an emergency, you have to have your phone working as you are miles away from home. You can be lost in an unknown city without a Google map or miss out on the opportunity to click the picture of a scenic site come across your way with a dead phone. A portable phone charger will get you covered for at least some time. As we all have forgotten how to live without a phone, the portable power bank is essential.
Flip-flops
Don't miss out on flip-flops. They won't cover much of your luggage space. Flip-flops will be so comfortable for indoor roaming in whatever place you choose for the stay. You can use your flip-flops as slippers, as most luxury hotels these days seem to have gotten rid of the hotel slippers. You will surely appreciate them at the swimming pool area and beaches. If you are going to the wilderness, you will definitely need those for showers.
Research on destination country's culture and customs
Try to know the place better where you are visiting. Please do your research about their customs and rules. It is the moral responsibility of a tourist to abide by the rules and respect the culture of the foreign land. You should not be frowned upon by the local people of the destination country.
