Day 1

An impromptu kitty meet led us to set out on this wonderful journey of amritsar with my set of 7 gal pals in the pleasant month of November.
Just gupshuping over delicious tea got us all poured out on what we girls need is a refreshing break over our day to day routine so in a bid to overcome our monotony we decided that we all should go for a girl's trip. So first thing we started discussing is the destination... After lots of research n enquiries we zeroed in on amritsar. As that place was very close to airport so no need to travel much also it was packed with lots of tourist spots and also every girls delight it was a heaven for shopping.
Soon we decided on our dates which was convenient with all and after making a tentative itinerary we got our tickets and hotel  booked.
After consulting lots of people who had already been to amritsar we booked hotel ramada as it was located in the heart of the city with all sightseeing n eateries n markets at stones throw distance. We were so excited for our trip that for days we were discussing of what to wear n where where to go. We coordinated all our looks for all different places as in kaftan with dupatta for gurudwara, white n denim for attari border, Punjabi suit with dupatta for soni kudi look at the farm stay n also shirt dress for airport look.
Excitedly we set out for our first girls trip. We had a morning flight and reached amritsar by 12pm. We had our transport booked which picked us from the airport n transferred to hotel ramada. There was lots of traffic on the way once reaching WE checked in and then immediately freshened up n left for lunch at famous Brothers dhaaba which was at walking distance from hotel. There we had yummiest kulcha n cholle n firni n a jug full of lassi. We ate to our hearts content post that we visited jallianwala baug. Believe us when we say that place literally gave goose bumps with all the history attached to it. A sacred place for patriots giving a glimpse of what people have faced in actual compared to what we read in school books. That place  shooked us completely however to make up for it we had a exhilarating return trip to the hotel while walking in the streets of amritsar with beautiful fulkaris, juttis, pakistani suits on display luring us to buy them till we are all short of cash. That night we had our dinner at the hotel itself  as we had planned our night visit that night to the gurudwara. We wanted to experience the calm and serenity of the place along with the palkhi of waheguru which comes in the middle of the night. So excitedly we slept post 12only to set our alarm for 3.30am so that we hv enough time to bath n reach there by 4.30. As our hotel was very close to gurudwara we set out walking in the middle of the night and trust me it had its own fun etched in our memory book. We reached gurudwara by 4.30 and had this place to explore minus the crowd as at that time of the night it is devoid of tourists n unnecessary long queue. We fell in love with the place when we saw the magnificent structure glistening in the middle of the lake in its glory amidst the moonlight flooding it. We had superb darshan and also had our taste of langar with khada prasad n of course witnessed  the journey of beautiful palkhi that added another feather to our cup. We didn't realise the amount of time we spend there  that we reached back hotel just in time to hv our breakfast. Post breakfast we went to see the partition museum which also had another episode of hair raising experience as there was too much to see, Listen n digest.  Then we had our lunch at kesar dhaaba. We didn't like the food there and also the hygiene of that place was threatening. After that we came to our hotel n got ready to leave for attari border. Once you set your foot on the periphery of the border the scenery around you awakens the soldier in you. The place is all decked up with our tricolor memorabilia n patriotic songs n of course our jawaans. The parade, the opening n closing of our gates, the lowering of our national flag, the beautiful coordinated piece cross border display all of it was a lifetime experience. It was a sight to behold n wanting our hearts to visit it again n again. After that we returned back to our hotel n had our dinner at bharwaan da dhabba. The food was good. We called it an early night as we had not slept properly the previous night. Next day early morning we went for pooja to a jain temple near the gurudwara. It was a small beautiful temple with an idol of God Arnath Swami who is the 18th God of jain dynasty dated 3000 years back. The poojari there was so happy to guide us with the rituals and we too were elated to add one more historic feat to our journey. After that we had our breakfast n then again visited gurudwara in daylight as wanted to see the magnificent structure in both the time of the day. It was mesmerising in its that form too. Here the scenario was completely opposite compared to our sojourn in the night. The place was flooded with tourist n devotees n never ending queue but the temple true to its form had its own stor y to tell. Visiting this structure will never disappoint you be it anytime of the day. Then again we refilled our quota of shopping with amritsar papads, masalas n also some ornaments and checked out of our hotel only to check in at sadda pind a farm stay option in amritsar giving you an experience of a village lifestyle rich in culture n heritage enroute we hada delicious  lunch at kulcha land . Sadda pind was so authentically built a face off of the actual village with all minute detailing. They had their wells, n maut ka kuva, farm n mehndi parlour with turban n parande waali n charpais to rest also small small handcart dishing out their traditional menu such as sarson ka saag n baajre ki roti. We had such a wonderful day as if we were in lala land the day passed in a breeze and next day we checked out with so many memories n stories to share till months.
Loved each and every minute of my ubiquitous journey into this enchanting place. The day of check out we realised that 3days were not enough to capture the essence of this beautiful place. Nevermind this place has my heart n for sure I am returning here again n again for more.
