Dharamkot - my mountain home and the ultimate heavenly WFH town.
Since it’s turned into a snowy wonderland, it’s become the ideal quaint workation place, if crowd is not your thing.
The internet and electricity is working well for most parts. There is one ATM, most places including chai tapri accept UPI payments.
And YES, it is COLD and most of the homestays won’t have heaters so if you plan to stay longer I will recommend buying an electric blanket before heading there (you can also buy this from Dharamshala market) or rent it out from one of the hostels there.
This small town also has the Vipassana meditation centre, Dhamma Shikara, as well as the Tushita Meditation Centre which is a centre for the study and practice of Buddhism in the Tibetan Mahayana tradition, but they may not be functioning due to covid and snow.
How to reach?
Fly to Dharamshala
Fly to Chandigarh/ Delhi then take a shared cab/ bus to reach Dharamshala
From Dharamshala, you will need to hire a taxi to get to Dharamkot - cabs will drop you until the closest they can, since it’s a steep climb which may be covered in snow, you will have to walk some part of it.
