Getting there:
Bengaluru to Kemmannagundi is a journey of around 6 hours and 275 km in a car. If you're traveling in bus nearest bus station is Chikmagalur. Chikmagalur to Kemmannagundi is around 60km.
You can visit the Kalahatti falls at the base of Kemmannagundi hill, take a dip there and visit the temple.
Visit the Krishnarajendra park on the hill.
Stays are available on top of the hill, with a beautiful view outside the window at decent prices.
Start your day by getting up to the sunrise, the viewpoint is on top of the hill. After sunrise go down the hill visit the rock garden and have some lunch.
After your lunch start your trek to Z-point. Take a 2 litre water bottle with you. If you're trekking in monsoon take some table salt with you to repel leeches.
The trek till Shanti falls is easy, it's just like walking on the road which is not paved. After Shanti falls there's a narrow trial towards the Z-point, even this trial is easy, you won't be climbing much, and the total trek distance is just 4km (one side). With Shanti falls at 2km. At the viewpoint you'll be completely covered in clouds and mist. It was an awesome experience, and this trek is great for beginners.
You can sit there for a while chit chat with your friends, or post stories on Instagram if you have BSNL with you 😜. Make sure you don't shout a lot as there'll be monkeys around.
There's no entry fee or anything. Carry water bottles, raincoat, glucose and a basic first aid kit (cotton, Dettol, bandages). Take cup noodles and a flask with hot water you'll enjoy it. If you like off-road riding, you can take your home till Shanti falls.
