Day 1

Travelled to delhi from my hometown.

I along with my 3 friends boarded the bus from Delhi around 11 pm for Rishikesh.

Day 2

Reached Rishikesh by 6am.

From here you have to search for various options for reaching Chopta.

By bus- Rishikesh to Rudraprayag

Rudraprayag to Ukhimath

Uktimath to Chopta

In 90% of the cases you would have to change the bus from these destinations and go by this route. It will take you around 12-14 hours for this travel.

By Taxi- You can also hire a taxi from rishikesh which will take you till Chopta directly. If you are travelling by group it would also be economical to hire a taxi.

Would cost you around 10k-12k for 3 days.

About me I booked a Swift Dzire from Rishikesh and started our journey at 7 am.

You will find few good places during the journey for your maggi breaks and meals your cab driver would definitely know about them.

One fine decision which we realised during our journey was taking a car rather than travelling by a bus. Travelling by bus would have made it a hectic one as there are only local buses and travelling in mountains require frequent breaks.

We reached Baniyakund which is 4kms before chopta around 4-5 pm and booked a Camp.

A camp would cost you around 3k-4k with snacks, dinner and next day breakfast.

This was the time when we forgot all our tiredness as we were travelling since the previous day.

For the whole night it kept raining and the weather was pleasant and we enjoyed our stay to the fullest.

Day 3

A day which has left impressions on our mind for lifetime.

Try eating less before your journey as it will help you trek easily and keep you hydrated.

We started the 4-5 kms trek from Chopta to Tungnath at 7 am. The weather was quite good and trek was of moderate difficulty.

U will find Tea Corners after every 700-800m while trekking. The views during the journey as really motivating to keep you moving.

We reached Tunngnath around 11 am taking regular breaks during our journey. Tungnath being a spiritual place and worlds highest shiva temple we spent some time in the temple doing some religious odds. It was a quite calm place and few people around. We took a room for a stay a Tungnath for around 1000 bucks and took rest for an hour.

After that we started our journey at 2 pm for Chandrashila Peak around 2kms from tungnath and trek is a difficult one. Try not to travel if it’s raining.

We reached the peak by 3 pm and that was the time we got speechless. The beauty was breathtaking. It was really cold up there with the high winds. We spent around 3 hours there which were some of the best cherished moments of our life. You cant stay there at chandrashila peak.

We reached back tungnath in half an hour at 6:30 pm. Although we booked the room for the night but due to the cold weather up there we thought of starting our journey back to chopta. We booked our rooms at Moksha Cafe in Chopta with the help of some acquaintances in tungnath.

Trek back to chopta was also awesome as we did off roading which was fun and reached chopta within an hour.

Moksha Cafe stay was one of the best decisions for the night. It offered really nice food and stay too was peaceful.Main thing was it did not even cost us 2000 bucks for food and stay for 4 people. It was really economical.

We got some nice bunch of people at cafe and enjoyed the time till 12am.

Its all for the day.

Day 4

Its the final day and we started our journey back to Rishikesh around 5 am.

We reached rishikesh at 1pm after taking a break for half an hour for breakfast.

We all had mixed views about what to do after reaching rishikesh because we had to board the bus at 11pm in night.

After all the things we decided on Rafting of 16 kms from Shivpuri. Our Rafting guide who took us to shivpuri in sumo was no less than F1 racing pilot. We were not sure about reaching the place after looking at his driving skills.

It was even a nice experience to end the day with a happy note.

We spent some time at Laxman Jhula as the place there was quite good for spending your last moments in Rishikesh.

We finally boarded the bus at 11pm for delhi.

This is my group me being in the center of both pictures.
