When someone says Chikmagalur, we remember coffee. But that's just not it. It's much more. Chikmagalur or Chikkamagaluru (ಚಿಕ್ಕಮಗಳೂರು) is a district in the state of Karnataka in India. This is about a 2-day bike ride to explore Chikkamagalur and it's beauty which went on for about 450km.
Three of us started from a point in Bantakal, Udupi at 6am on 30th July, 2021. We had chosen the Kuduremukh route as we had Kyathanmakki in our itinerary. Two RE Classic 350 and one Bajaj Dominor.
After having breakfast at Kalasa, we reached Kyatanamakki at around 10:30am. It is a restricted area and has an entry fee of Rs.50. One can go there only from 8am-5pm and not before or after that. We started our trek towards the peak. The route is very good for off-roading. We did not take our bikes as we had more places to visit. It's about 3-4km and the view you get after that is simply astonishing. Locally it's also called as Gaaligudda (ಗಾಳಿಗುಡ್ಡ) for the breeze that blows in the peak.
After creating some memories here, we started to Eagle Eye Resort which is about 70km from Kyatanamakki. We reached the resort at around 2pm. We were welcomed with welcome drinks and had lunch after freshening up. There were several activities included in the package viz. fishing, boating, forest trek, waterfalls, common swimming pool and indoor games like table tennis and carom. We had opted for a cottage which costed us Rs.2900 person, including the buffet for 3 times a day and a tea in the evening.
After having a great time in the resort, the next day we left to our next destination - Mullayanagiri (ಮುಳ್ಳಯನಗಿರಿ). This ride was around 60km with almost 10km of off-roading! It took us more time than expected. The traffic was too much when we were close to the parking spot of Mullayanagiri. It was also too much crowded due to revenge traveling. We parked our bikes and started our walk. The wind speed was such that it felt like someone is pushing us down! On top of this, it was fully covered with fog. It was an adventure to reach the peak (with our riding jackets and bags on!).
Time for some refreshments...
Found this iconic cafe called 'The Riders Nest' way back to home. We had snacks and coffee here. Good food, good ambience, reasonable cost - what more after a tiring day...
We left from here and on the way back home, clicked some good pictures on the way...
That's all for this trip. See you in our next trip.
Stay Safe...
