Chaturmukha basadi & Gomateshwara Statue

These two place of historical importance are situated in Karkala, Udupi with walkable distance between the two.
Karkala is well connected with roads with frequent buses available from Mangalore and Udupi.

Gomateshwara Statue:
The 42 feet high statue was built during the 15th century as a dedication to Bahubali, who is considered as an important person among the Jains.
It is situated on the top of a hill and offers a very beautiful view of the Western ghats from the top.

Chaturmukha Basadi:
This is one of the most important and oldest Jain temples in the place. The four sides of the temple are identical which gives rise to it's name. It is magically carved on the granite stone.

One can see Chaturmukha Basadi from the hill where Gomateshwara Statue is located.
