Reached Bir around 7:30 A.M. and guess what, it was drizzling. Same as forecasted by the google baba.
So I headed directly towards my staying point "goStops-Bir". It comes in a category of hostel. I booked one bunk in the mixed dormitory for Rs 500 but they also have option of separate rooms. You can book it directly from booking.com or gostops.com (sometimes you may find some issue while booking through booking.com).
There are many options available in Bir to stay and "goStops Bir" is one of the best and economical option. I found many solo travelers in goStops with whom I later explore the nearby areas of BIR.
Mr. Pawan at goStops is a very kind and helpful person, he helps in every way he can, from guiding to nearby spots to some treks.
For me travelling means food and places. So I had breakfast (Aloo and Pyaz ke Parathe) at "Pindi Kitchen" (on other travelers choice) and to my amaze, they give you best north Indian food in BIR.
Later, I had lunch at "Nyingma Kitchen" with Kartik (solo traveller) to try some Tibetan food. The food was delicious, we tried Veg Thupka and Veg Devil Momos. It cost us Rs 200 in total.
Later that day, we took Jupiter (Mode 1) on rent from "99 Not Out" for Rs 500 for a day and then ride to Barot Valley (Place 1).
After our return, we went for dinner at "Himalayan Pizza". They give you one of the best pizzas. It will cost Rs250 for one vegetarian Pizza.
Next day, I tried my first 10 Km mountain run. I can't tell you how amazing it was. It was a perfect start of the day. Love it.
On my way back, I relaxed at landing site and was watching other doing their landing.
For breakfast, we all went to our lovely North Indian restaurant by Mr. Kapoor (Pindi Kitchen). Mr. Kapoor himself prepares ginger tea (much needed) for me, his hospitality is amazing. Per person we had 1 Paratha, 1 Bread Omelette & Tea, it cost us Rs130 per person.
Later I left for Barrot and some other villages above it via car (mode 2) with Siddharth and Sahil. We stayed there for a night and it cost us Rs 600 for a room.
Here Tuna fish is popular (around Rs400 /kg), we tried but didn't like it.
Next day, we left for Palampur (place 2) and there I met Saurabh. We together went for "Baijnath" temple (place 3). It is on the way from Palampur to Bir, 15 Kms from Bir. We took local transport bus to Baijnath which cost us Rs 25 per person.
Again we start our bus ride to Bir which cost us another Rs 25 per person. We directly went to "Garden cafe" (my friend @artimagar insists me to go there). We had some salad and shake (cost us Rs 200 for salad and Rs 120 for chocolate shake) and later stayed in there guest house "Garden cafe guest house" (Cost Rs 600 for a day).
After some rest, we went for cycling in mountains. We took cycles (mode 3) on rent from "99 Not Out" for Rs 80 per hour.
Guess, where we went for dinner, it's "Pindi Kitchen" again. Mr. Kapoor again amazes us with his service, he sets a bonfire for us. We ordered, 1 peannut masala, 1 chili paneer, 1 Carlsberg, 1kadhai paneer, 1 Dal makhani & 6 Butter roti and it cost us Rs 900. After a long day, all that matter is delicious food and amazing hospitality.
We bought some beers from chauhan chowk, which is 1.5Kms from landing site.
All set for the next day, we did Paragliding (mode 4) today from Billing (place 4). Mr. Ranjeet Thakur (+91-8894447037), he was my pilot. He did a very good job, very comfortable flight and what a view, amazing. Paragliding cost us Rs 2500 /person (including video) and at landing site, they click your photos which you can purchase for Rs 200.
We had our brunch at "Garden cafe". We ordered Veggie delight Pizza, Cheeses Omelette, French Toast with honey which cost us Rs 460 for 2.
All of a sudden we decided to do trek to Chenna pass (place 5). The trek starts from Billing to chenna pass which is in between the way to Rajgundha.
We took a lift in loading van to bir for free (which is 3 kms from landing site) and from there we ask paragliding vehicle's to give us a lift to Billing, it cost us Rs 100 each.
Finally the day had come, "Bir Hal Marathon - Th hell race". It was a 21 Kms race in the mountains and my first marathon too. "The Hell Race" organizes it every year in the same month, it costs Rs 1850. Loves running (mode 5) in mountains.
Later that day, we tried our most awaited Pizza in "Glider's Pizzeria", which cost us Rs 300. It is known for its wood oven Pizzas. They served the best pizzas in BIR.
So after having so many activities, lifetime fun, amazing time, memorable moments and life time memories, I finally said goodbye to Bir and left for Delhi by bus "Ram Dala", which Cost Rs 1500/ person.
This is my first solo trip and BIR makes me feel to have more in future.
I started at 7:30 P.M. (and yes they are punctual in this) from Nirmal Hriday Church @ Majnu ka tilla. Booked the bus "Laxmi Travel agency" from paytm for Rs1150. Bus was comfortable for 12 hr journey and they drop you near to paragliding landing point at BIR (that was the plus point). There are some other travel agencies also who operates directly between Delhi to Bir, such are Ram Dalal, Northern Volovo and HRTC.
