Rinpung Dzong is a beautiful dzong (fort), with towering walls that was built around 16th century and it's also known as fortress of heap of jewels. It's among the best tourist places for tourists who wants to explore cultural heritage in bhutan which is a classic examples for bhutanese architecture and with deep rooted traditions. The entire area is filled with monasteries and shrines. Some of the shrines are, Kungarwa, Monk’s assembly hall, Sandalwood stupa, protector’s shrine. Every year it hosts a annual festivals tshechu which is held in Rinpung Dzong and it starts on eleventh day to the fifteenth day which is marked as bhutan's lunar calendar. One can understand the calendar month for the annual festival is held between march to april. It's followed by masked dance which tells many stories as they are performed by monks for many days. On the fifteenth day before dawn breaks a sacred text which consists of eight manifestations of padmasambhava is shown to tourists in those early hours and it's believed that sunlight rays should not fall on the sacred text of padmasambhava.
