Bastar: A paradise undiscovered

Bastar is a south district of Chhattisgarh particularly known for being heart of Naxal Corrider of India. however, relatively very less people know that it has many hidden treasures of nature's beauty.

It all started with a unplanned trip of bunch of college guys. We booked a last minutes bus tickets for Bastar and boarded our bus at 9 pm.

As any other 2nd year college students we all were noisy and loud throughout the trip. The bus stopped at Maakri Dhaba and we all had sumptuous post-dinner meal and tried it ought-to-have Kheer. (All buses on way to Bastar stop there.)

Crossing the Keshkal Ghati on the way, we reached Kondagaon @ 2am. Since one of my friends father was already posted as SDM there, he has booked rooms for us in Govt. Guest house.

Next morning we had a wonderful breakfast at his home and started our journey at 8am. Crossing Jagdalpur, we reached the famous Danteshwari Temple at Dantewara and spent some friendly time in the park and bank of the river.

Thereafter we started our journey for Tirathgarh Falls and reached there @2. Earlier we thought of just having a view from above the falls but the call of the dropping water was too mesmerizing for all off us to stop there. Within minutes we were in the bottom the falls feeling the splashes of water all around us. Perfect selfie time ;)

However, We had to leave early since our lunch was arranged at Chitrakoot Falls and we were already very late. We all were too tired and hungry. We reached Chitrakkot @ 4 and quickly had our lunch.

Since it was rainy season, Chitrakoot was flooded and water was also not very clear. But there you can see why it is called Niagara Falls of India. We all sat for sometime near the falls. The tiny water droplets hitting us at the height of 93 feets bottom was really smoothening. Its definitely one the best sunset I had ever seen.

Since the area is known to be naxal prone, we all had to leave by 6:30. However, being a localite I personally know that tourist are never harmed. If given a chance, do stay at the guest house next to the falls. They have arranged for amazing lighting of the falls.

Finally we reached Kondagaon at 8:30 and had a nice sumptuous dinner at our friends home and came back to raipur by 5 in morning.

Nice, short and beautiful trip :)
