It wasn't really a planned trip.
I had just completed a client's project and I was free for a week.
I woke up on a fine day. I went to the Ahmedabad bus station and took the first bus. The bus was going to Udaipur and hopefully, I got a seat.
Udaipur is around 260 km far from Ahmedabad. After 6 hours of bus journey, I reached Udaipur.
Day 1
I had booked my accommodation in advance. It was near Fateh Sagar Lake. But first I want to rent a two-wheeler. I got my two-wheeler and went to the hotel. It was 2:30 PM.
In the evening, I went to Jheel’s. I read somewhere that they serve the best wood fire pizza. So, I ordered one with Watermelon Slush. I must say, the food was absolutely fabulous.
One can enjoy the beautiful sunset over here.
After eating a whole pizza, I wanted to go to some calm place and chill. So, I went to Fateh Sagar lake. I met some backpackers. I was full due to the pizza so I wanted to eat something light. So, I had Pyaaz Kachori somewhere in the Old City. went to old Udaipur city to eat. It was served with 2 different chutneys; sweet and spicy chutneys. It was damn good.
If you are in Udaipur you shouldn’t miss hot coffee at Shiv Sagar Cafe, Fateh Sagar Lake.
Day 2
I started the day with a very heavy breakfast. I had Aloo Paratha at Pandit Ji. Trust me it is heavy. It was made in Desi Ghee and served with a butter cube on top with some lentils, pickles, and curd. It was amazing. Have breakfast here. You will thank me later.
After breakfast, I went to the City Palace. The City Palace was built in the 16th century and located on the East Bank of Pichola Lake.
I captured this picture from the window;
I spent a lot of time at the City Palace. Jagdish Temple is within walking distance from the City Palace. I had to skip lunch because of the parathas. In the evening, I visited Lake Pichola and Laal Ghat. You can enjoy a pleasant evening here.
Day 3
Today, I had planned to visit Sajjangarh Monsoon Palace. It was around 9 km from my place. I had Pyaaz Kachori and Mirchi Vada for breakfast. I know it's weird but people of Udaipur eat Kachori for breakfast.
The roads to the Palace are good. I enjoy driving in the mountains.
I reached the Palace. You can see the whole city from the Palace.
It was around 10:30 in the morning. You can click on some good Instagrammable photos.
Just make sure that the Palace closes at 5 pm. Nobody is allowed after that. So, plan accordingly.
For lunch, I wanted to try Laal Maans. How could I miss that!
So, I went to Uprè. It is located near Pichola Lake. The view from here is so good. This is a good place to enjoy the sunset.
In the evening, I went to Saheliyon-ki-Bari.
I was on the way to Saheliyon-ki-Bari and I saw a joint selling Vada Pav. Many people were eating there. So, I had to try it. I ordered one. To be honest, I wasn't expecting it to be that good. I had Vada Pav in Surat, Valsad, Ahmedabad, and Mumbai. So, I was nowhere near comparing it. But it was good.
Day 4
I was on the way to the Vintage Car Museum. I heard so much about the Kachori at Paliwal. You won't believe how popular the place is. It was 7:30 in the morning and there was a long queue. They only sell Samosa and Kachori. I tried both. And I loved it. I couldn't control myself eating more of it.
I reached the Vintage Car Museum. The museum showcases some of the most exquisite collections of royal antique cars.
If you are into vintage cars this place is for you.
Today's lunch was special. I wanted to eat Rajasthani Special Dal-Bati-Churma. I found an old restaurant that serves authentic Dal-Bati-Churma. The place is called Santosh Bhojanalaya.
The food was so good. Everything on the plate was delicious. There was Dal, Bati, Churma, Besan Gatta, Garlic Chutney, Rice, Buttermilk, and much more.
After lunch, I went to Gangaur Ghat to chill.
The next stop was Bagore Ki Haveli. The Haveli timings are 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Bagore Ki Haveli is famous for the Dharohar Folk Dance show. The show timings are 7 PM to 8 PM. The tickets are available every day after 6 PM.
There were many rooms in the palace, with displays of costumes and modern art. It also preserves an example of Mewar Painting on the walls of the Queen's Chamber. This is a must-visit place. If you are in Udaipur you shouldn’t miss Bagore Ki Haveli.
That was pretty much it.
I had a lot of fun. This was my first unplanned trip. I must say, unplanned trips are the best.
