Anuradhapura - Ancient capital of Sinhala from 4BC - 11 AD

Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi is the location of the sacred bodhi tree, derived from one of the branches brought from the Maha Bodhi tree at Bodh Gaya in India. It was planted here in the year 288 BC.
