I went on a trek with my two friends in Winters a year ago in Malshej Ghat, Maharashtra, India. We took the bus as we were 40 in all, it was organised by Mulund K.V.O Trekking Unit. So the journey began from Dadar at 11 pm which was the first boarding point for participants staying in South Bombay and Suburbs. All trekkers were enthusiastic some were new, some were known faces. We proceeded to Mulund our next boarding point and welcomed more people from there. We continued our journey till 2am when we reached the base village. It was chilling, as we were out of the city the temperature droped to 17°c!
We de-boarded the bus and got ourselves in a house for some rest till morning, so we took a nap, some were chit chatting and some were playing cards. At 4 am we got a wake up call to freshen up and have breakfast as we had to start climbing by 5. After breakfast we took some snacks along and water for the trek, you are not allowed to carry anything in your hand, it is necessary your hands should be empty to keep a balance. So we started climbing it was flat plateau at first then further it was steep. All of us singing, playing music and enjoying their best, because we knew what a view it would be from the top. The climb was easy only at few steps we had to be careful. We reached the top after climbing for 2 hrs! It was soo beautiful, surrounded by mountains between the clouds and a beautiful sunrise to witness. We were totally mesmerized with the view. We had 2 hrs to spend and I took my camera along so we took pictures all over the place. It was something that we all wanted after hectic examination schedule. A weekend gateway with friends for trekking is one of the best things to do. We then started preceding towards the base, it was steep, and the volunteers guided us so nicely with getting down, some skid, some slipped but it was fun. We did take water breaks in between and then after 2 hrs we reached the base village. We had lunch, most of us carried thepla and pickle. Made alot of new friends, we started our journey for Mumbai at 2pm, all of us were tired and drained out. Some fell asleep as soon as the bus started. We reached the city at 5pm due to traffic snarls. But it was one memorable trip!
