"Sometimes the best adventures come from life's unplanned moments"
It was a Sunday and suddenly my friend called me for an outing. We started early in the morning and started to Tirupati from Sri City. On the way to Tirupati we decided to go to Talakona Falls. We hired a bike in Tirupati and started our drive to Talakona Falls. It is a one and half hour drive from Tirupati. Taking the Ananthapur-Tirupati highway for 16 kms and taking a right at Bakarapeta and following the straight road for 42 kms you will arrive at the destination. First and foremost thing be careful with monkeys.
The Talakona waterfall is in Chittoor District of Andhra pradesh in India. With a 270 feet (82 m)-fall, Talakona is the highest waterfall in the Andhra pradesh state. Talakona means head hill in Telugu (tala - head and kona - hill). However, Thalakona allegorically means “the head of the Seshachalam hills”.
July is best month to visit Talakona Falls. We reached the falls around 11:00 AM after a small walk for less than 600m. A small water fall in front of us refreshed our souls after spending long frustated weeks. Excited after watching the falls we started climbing the rocks and realized how slippery the rocks were. Listening to the water babbling down a stream, and leaves rustling in the wind we spent 3 hours enjoying the nature.
