This is my first ever visit to an island as well as first ever visit to a sea beach in true sense, as i once visited the beach in Chennai but that was a very short and sudden trip.
Lying in the Bay of Bengal like some sparkling gems, these islands present us a very ideal view of what a natural beauty looks like. A paradise for a traveler especially beach lovers, it is dream come true for nature photography.
Consisting of around 572 islands, it is unique in its own way.
I, with one other friend, started the journey from Kolkata and landed at the Veer Savarkar International Airport, Port blair by 13:05 hrs.
We booked our trip through a travel agency so we were picked up by our agent.
We stayed at the Hotel Velocity, a nice hotel if you are a budget traveler.
From there on we visited the Corbyn's cove Beach, did some jet skiing and ended our first day with the light and sound show in the cellular jail.
Next day early morning we checked out of our hotel at port blair and departed for the Havelock islands, in a cruise(Green ocean 2).
The journey took around 2 hrs and we reached Havelock at around 8:45 am.
From there we were taken to the Radhakrishna resort, one of the most beautiful resorts i have been.
There, we had our breakfast and then we went to the amazing and wonderful Radhanagar beach, one of the best beaches in Asia.
The way to the Radhanagar beach, was a beauty as well as we passed through fields and forests on both sides.
Once we reached the beach we were amazed by the mere beauty of the beach which was no doubt one of the best beach in Asia. Covered with white sand and blue waters, surrounded by forest and huge trees, it was truly amazing in every way.
Third day was leisure day for us so we rented a scooty which cost 500/- for 24 hrs. We tried to explore Havelock on our scooty enjoying the roadtrip and then we went to the Ocean dive centre(suggested by our tour agent) for scuba diving.
At around 9 am we reached the dive centre and booked our slots which costed us 4000 per head.
We were provided with the costume, gears and equipments and then we were taken to the shallow waters for some training about scuba diving.
Important signs and signals were taught to us about how to communicate and how to react if any problem occurs under the waters.
Then we were taken into the middle of the sea on a motor boat and then we dived into the sea which was truly an amazing lifetime experience as we introduced to the amazing aquatic underwater life which cannot be explained in words.
We went deep up to about 45 feets and enjoyed around 30 minutes inside the sea.
We completed our diving at around 1 pm then we decided to go to the Elephanta beach but some locals told us that it closes at 3 pm so we again went to the Radhanagar beach and enjoyed there till sunset which was truly beautiful. Then we went to our resort as next day we were to go Neil Islands.
On the day 4,we departed for Neil Islands on the same cruise that brought us to Havelock.
We reached Neil at 10 am and were taken to our hotel, Deep sea resort.
We had only one day at Neil islands, so we didn't wasted much time and went to the Bharatpur beach.
Bharatpur beach had lots of water activities.
We went on a Glass boat ride and enjoyed the beautiful aquatic life through a magnifying glass that was on the bottom of the boat. Then we enjoyed our bath time at the beach and then went to the Coral beach which is famous for the corals during the low tides.
There we can see some living shells, starfishes, and many other varities of lifeforms.
Then we went to the sunset point at laxmanpur beach and enjoyed the beautiful sunset as you can see in the images.
And with the sunset, also ended our day 4 of the trip.
Today we returned to Port blair, reached there at around 10:30 am and we were taken to the same hotel, Hotel velocity, in which we stayed in the first day of our trip.
From there on, we went to the historic Ross island, which we reached by a boat ride booked from Rajiv Gandhi sports complex.
Ross island is a very beautiful island where you can enjoy the natural beauty and also the animals like deers, rabbits, peacocks, squirrels very upclose, as they are very friendly.
You can walk the island or can rent a cart.
After 1.5 hr on Ross island we returned to the Rajiv Gandhi complex and then went for para sailing which was a wonderful experience at about 100 feet above the sea water wearing a parachute. A really amazing time.
Today we were getting ready for our return trip and you can know the feeling when the fun time comes to an end.
We arrived at the Veer Savarkar International Airport at around 12 noon, our flight was at 13:55 hrs.
So we said good bye to this beautiful and mesmerizing place. This journey, i will remember my entire life. The moments and memories of scuba diving, jet skiing, para sailing , the truly beautiful Radhanagar beach, those i can never forget.
And hence i conclude my story of my wonderful trip to south Andaman and wait for the perfect time to plan a trip to the North Andaman in the near future.
