Ancient history stated back to 5th century when the group of 16 temples were built in Gupta Period constructed by Adi Shankaracharya. Adi Badri the main temple is dedicated to Badrinarayan and enshrined with Lord Vishnu a 3 feet high black stone idol of lord Vishnu. As the name Badrinath i.e Lord Vishnu, this place also comes under famous Badrikshetra. This is the first badri amongst Pancha Badri, other Badris are , Bhavishya Badri, Yogdhyan Badri, Vridh Badri and Badrinath. The traditional believe amongst pilgrims is Lord Vishnu lived here three Yugs (Saty, Treta & Dwapar) and shifted to Badrinath in Kalyug thus the name comes as Adi Badri. Also a formal faith suggests Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapurana was written at this place by Maharishi Vedvyas.

Adi Badri Temple Timings:

The temple has its own operational rules, opens on Makar Sankranti in January and closes in the month of November due to winter. A South Indian Brahmin appointed as chief priests of the temple.

Multiple festivals celebrated at Adi Badri, such as Akshaya Tritiya, Kapal Mochan fair etc on which devotees worship Badrinarayan after taking a hollu dip in Kapal Mochan kund situated in temple premises.

Best Time to Visit Adi Badri:
