From Munnar to Kolukkumalai is a 35km journey, Munnar itself is a beautiful place surrounded by lush green mountains, forest, tea plantations and waterfalls, when one of the person in the zostel where I stayed, suggested to visit Kolukkumalai peak sunrise point, at that moment those words rumbled my brain's memory lane back to Mangalore
So, let me tell you a kutty/short story,
Most of the people who plan to visit beaches, also plan on watching sunrise or sunset right! But in India except at Kanyakumari we get to see only either of them not both. So why am I speeking of beaches here? That's because,as i mentioned earlier I have got a very own dumb story for myself, when I had started travelling, for the first time me & my friend planned to visit Mangalore on our way to Goa. So the plan was to get down at Mangalore before the dawn and reach the beach before sunrises and spend till afternoon and then off to Goa. So bought entry at Summer sands resort and started waiting for the sunrise and we could see no one at that time and we thought we were lucky have all the beach for ourselves and we kept waiting for the sunrise and it was 7:10AM we saw all the surroundings were slowly lit by sunrays but the sun wasn't visible from the horizon of sea.
By now most of you would have got it, but still let me confess😂
The two dumbest things we did were:
1. Planning to visit sunrise from Western coast, we were so excited on planning that we lost to geography, by 7:15AM we understood where we went wrong 🤣 and laughed at ourselves and left the place making the trip more funny than memorable.
2. When we were already visiting Goa, which has good number of beaches, then why plan Mangalore that too only to watch sunrise🤦.
So, on listening the word sunrise point I decided to visit the peak, but believe me the place was amazing as you actually get to see 3 most beautiful things in a span of 2hours :
1. Twilight
2. Dawn
3. Watch Sunrise from a horizon
above the clouds! yet my feet are
on the ground not in the flight.
More than these i was more exited for the fact that iam watching sunrise in the east from Western ghats as it was kind of pacifying me for the dumb thing i have done😉
Anyways, as said by Zig Ziglar "The difficult roads often leads to beautiful destinations, The best is yet to come" . The road to Kolukkumalai from munnar is bumpy but it's worth the destination do visit the view point when you are at Munnar.
