I began trip from Nadiad. I lived in Nadiad for about couple of years but never got a chance to visit Modasa. So this was the time when I finally got. An old friend lives in Modasa, my actual plan was to meet him but later I decided to have a small trip of Modasa City. It is situated in newly formed Aravalli district of Gujarat

To be fair Modasa doesn't have many places to visit but I found couple of places to visit. I started my journey from Nadiad in morning on 10 am. The distance between Nadiad and Modasa is around 110 Kms. It almost took me about 3 hours to reached to Modasa via bus. It will depend on from where you start your journey from. If you starting from Ahmadabad it might take up to 3.30 hours. There are different way you can reached to Modasa i.e. train, bus or personal vehicle.

There are fair amount of hotels in which you can stay, also there is not problem of finding food. You can be sure that you'll gonna find a fair amount of Rajasthani Food, because the only reason is that Modasa is quite close to neighbor state Rajasthan

Couple of places I visited were:

1. Shamalaji, Kankariya Modasa (Wiki Link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shamlaji)

The Shamlaji temple stands in honour of Lord Vishnu with scenes from the epic stories Mahabharata and Ramayana gracing the walls of this 11th-century temple (got from Wikipedia). It is around 29 kms from Modasa. To visit there you either have own vehicle or you can have a private vehicle that would leads to Shamlaji or you can travel in a bus but then you have to walk for couple of kms to reached to temple. It is a nice place to visit. You should visit this place in morning or evening.

2. Devraj Dham, Modasa (Google Map: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Devraj+Dham/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x395df1ba0d9f31bd:0xa7936ffe1d38eb32?gl=IN&hl=en)

This situated at same distance as Shamalaji. This is again a temple, but you will find a lot things apart from temple. Number of personalities (Including current PM Narendra Modi, Swami Ramdev, etc.) visited this place and also performed. You will find list of personalities with their photographs. You can almost have a view of whole outer modasa city.

Note: One thing an advise from me is that it would be much better if you bring you own vehicle. Modasa does not have a good transportation system for people. You might have to wait for a longer duration for any vehicle. Personally I had to wait for vehicle, but again you can adopt technique of asking for lift. And most of people will give you a lift for free if you ask for it.
