A Trip To Dharamshala Tea Estate

Tripoto

Dharamshala is known for its natural beauty and panoramic views. People come here from all over the world to relax from city life. In common Hindi usage, the word Dharamshala refers to a shelter or rest house for spiritual pilgrims.

Located amidst lush green ambiance Narghota village is a dust-free and pollution-free zone near Dharamshala. Spread over acres of land, the tea gardens are a scenic natural site.

Both black tea and green tea have been produced in the Kangra Valley since the mid-19th century. Established as Dharmsala Tea Company in 1882, the valley has offered the finest, handcrafted teas to tea lovers around the world. Teas here are certified organic. They are carefully curated range of orthodox teas, herbal blends, floral blends, fruit blends and of course spice blends, not to mention our Ayurvedic wellness teas.

There are several large tea estates, combined with small-holdings, in Kangra. One of the oldest tea companies since the 1880s is the Dharmsala Tea Company, owned by the Mann family. The Dharmsala Tea Company owns three tea estates in and around Dharamsala – Mann Tea Estate, Hoodle Tea Estate and the highest altitude one, the Towa Tea Estate (at roughly 6,500 ft). All the tea estates are at an altitude of 4,000 to 6,500 ft.

It was a memorable experience for me to see how organic tea is produced and the efforts behind it. People are very affectionate and they will give you all the minute details and will guide you to the factory. The workers are also trained to welcome the guests at the Factory.

It was so refreshing to drive on the road with tea gardens on each side with lush green pine trees. There is negligible traffic on these roads and is a heaven for nature lovers.

So, next time if you are planning to visit Dharamshala, do make a point to pay a visit to this beautiful tea garden. It’s a lifetime experience.
