'A father's gift to his daughter'.
An indigenous architectural beauty built with the best elements of Kerala Vaastu sastra and the elegance of western-style during the British rule in 1904 by Vasudeva Raja of Kollengode Royalty gifted the palace to his daughter Janakikutty amma.
A heritage museum today, Kollengode palace comes under the department of archaeology. The museum has a rare and wide artistic collection of artifacts, mural paintings, ancient manuscripts, and stone engravings.
In the middle of the city a go to go place for anyone who loves art, architecture, and one who loves to read. The palace comes with a beautiful landscape along with where you can read while enjoying nature. Surrounded by art-bound compound walls lies the beautifully landscaped garden with stone sculptures and a play area for kids.
"I've never been somewhere I belonged, but there are places where I think I could be happy. Like San Francisco. Well do art museums count? Because I feel I belong in them".
