The cost i am mentioning is what it will take from Hyderabad. I opted flight to delhi and to hyderabad from delhi. Default flight rate to Delhi will be 1997 INR if you book it in advance. So the to and fro cost will be about 4000 bucks, We can roam around delhi in a cheap way using Delhi Metro. Delhi metro is one of the best things in Delhi to roam.
Exploring Delhi can be done in just one day with the help of Delhi metro, after reaching delhi the first thing you need to do is to go to the nearest metro station and get a Metro Tourist pass (this cost about 150 bucks, it will have a balance of 100 rupees). You can recharge the pass at every metro station.
I stayed at Gurgaon during my visit to delhi, Gurgaon is very near to Terminal 3 airport. On the first day i roamed in the streets of gurgaon as the community that i stayed was very good.
One of the main reasons to visit delhi is to have lunch at "Nando's" restaurant. Being a foodie, i am so excited to visit this place to have their world famous African style Peri peri chicken with their house special spicy sauces. If you ever been to gurgaon and looking for a great African/Portugal cuisine this will be your place. I insist to try food here.
After having s delicious food at Nando's i visited the Ambiance mall nearby, if you are with your family then this place is best for shopping and chill out. You need not to include this place if you want to visit delhi in one day. I had lot of time and i visited this mall for shopping. Burger lovers can go to Johnny rockets in this mall, they got the best burgers.
I passed the day 1 taking rest and roaming in the roads of gurgaon and trying street food and shopping. I started my delhi exploration on the day 2
The very first place that i have visited in Delhi was Qutub minar. There is a metro station for Qutub minar, you can find share autos from metro station to the minar and they charge about 10/20 rupees. Not only the minar this place got some architectural structures. The entry ticket is about 30-50 rupees for indians. Entry timings will be from Sunrise to Sunset (particular time is not mentioned by the officials).
The next place i have visited after Qutub minar is Red fort, The nearest metro station to Red fort is Chandni chowk, it is nearly 1km from chandni chowk, you can take auto rikshaws from chandni chowk metro station. It is just 10-20 rupees in auto rikshaws.
After visiting red fort, i went to chandni chowk for street food, Food at chandni chowk is never to be missed whenever you are in Delhi. The Dilli famous street food Dahi balla shouldnt be missed. Dont miss The Old famous Jalebi wala for jalebi, Parathas at Paratha wala gali, Mango kufli at Kuremal mohanlal, and you can find Kulfi falooda everywhere and give it a try. Its yumm.
After having belly full of food i went to the Jama masjid, peaceful one though. If you ever been to jama masjid dont forget to have the street food near Jama masjid Gate 1. Karim's hotel is one of the best place to have amazing food it delhi.
The very next thing i did is going to India gate, It is about 6-7kms from chandni chowk, You can opt city buses to go to India gate or if you want to go in metro then there are three metro stations that are nearer to India gate
Metro stations nearer to India gate
Central Secretariat Station
Janpath Market Station
Patel chowk
All are located nearby to the Indian gate and you can go by autos from the station to the spot (they charge about 40-50 rupees). I strongly suggest you to walk to India gate, trust me walking on those beautiful roads to the gate gives you awesome feel.
After visiting india gate i went to the janpath market which is very famous for shopping, i am so disappointed that this place is mostly suitable for ladies and girls for shopping as we dont have much options to shop. I only saw some footwear stalls and tshirt stalls.
After roaming in Janpath market, I visited this connaught place. Most beautiful place for shopping, even the place is very clean and i felt like as if am in some offbeat french town. In the middle of connaught there is this breathtaking visual of our tricolor flag, I felt that visual was the best thing in my visit.
And the next stop is Akshardham mandir, Metro station is available for this place, you need to plan accordingly as the timings of Akshardham temple is from 09:30am to 06:30pm. Entry ticket is free for Akshardham but for Exhibition and Water show they will charge money. Water show is the best thing at this place and the entry ticket is Rs80 for adults and Rs50 for children (Timings will be after sunset, currently the shows are at 7:30pm). Exhibition cost will be about 150-200 for adults and children.
Note : Mobile phones/Cameras/Any electronic devices are not allowed inside Akshardham, You can deposit at the entrance to the security and take back while leaving the place.
Due to time constraints as i totally involved in trying the street food in chandni chowk i missed Lotus temple during my visit to delhi, If you are planning a visit to delhi make Lotus temple your last stop. Nearest metro station for Lotus temple will be Kalkaji mandir.
If you are a party geek/pubber/clubber then this is the place for you. You can have best clubs/pubs at Hauz khas village (if you are looking for a visit get ready to fill your wallet :P ). There are many restaurants/bistros/pubs/bars at this places, pick your poison according to your taste and proceed. Plan your late night dinner and drinks at hauz khas village and end your visit with a great note.
