The Iguazú Falls lie on the Brazilian border with Argentina and Paraguay. An excursion into the Iguazú National Park will pretty much fill up the day as you explore the falls and the surrounding rivers and jungle. The park consists of various trails that take you through the jungle onto wooden walkways built a few meters above the jungle floor and the waterways for panoramic views of the surrounding forests with over 270 separate falls of all different sizes set amidst a verdant jungle of tropical trees and colorful butterflies. You'll also be taking to the waters to navigate the falls aboard a motor boat, heading through the rapids into the Devil's Throat Canyon on the morning of the second day. At over 80 meters high this is the most powerful and impressive waterfall of them all. A fitting last image seared into your mind before flying to Rio de Janeiro.
The first half-day in Rio can be spent as you want, sunset in Rio de Janeiro is spectacular and Ipanema Beach offers the best views. This evening you can dine in one of Rio's many excellent restaurants. The next morning starts off with a drive through Tijuca Forest, the largest urban forest in the world, to the peak of Corcovado Mountain, to the statue of 'Christ the Redeemer'. High above the city Corcovado offers spectacular views of Guanabara Bay, Sugarloaf, the beaches and the ocean. After lunch, you will visit the historical city center, passing the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Candelaria Church, as well as a ride the famous cable car to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain. The next day is a day of leisure and you can choose to do any one thing from a trip to Buzios, a pristine string of beaches and islands; Angra dos Reis, home to 365 islands and 2,000 beautiful beaches; or a jeep tour or helicopter ride taking you across Rio.
The first day in Salvador you have to yourself to explore the city. The next day the tour begins near the bay in the streets of the lower city before reaching the Lacerda Elevator to enjoy exceptional views over Salvador's bay. The tour continues on foot through small squares and narrow streets lined with colorful colonial buildings to Pelourinho in the heart of the city and then to the baroque Church of St. Francis, with its wood carvings and gold-leaf interior. The next day it'll be time to leave Bahia, and a schooner will take you across to the island of Morro de São Paulo.
The days in Morro are free for you to explore and enjoy the island Tinhare and its many miles of beautiful beaches, some of them almost completely deserted. Whichever beach you choose the waters will be crystal clear and the stretches of perfect white sand and swaying palms equally inviting. You could take a boat trip tour to visit the tidal pools at Garapuá to the south of the island. Here you can have a drink at the floating bar. You could also visit Boipeba, an island a short distance across the strait from Tinharé, where the villages and beaches are less developed. Scuba diving and snorkeling are big activities here and can easily be arranged, but extra to the package. On the 4th day here, the adventure finally comes to a close, a catamaran will take you back to Bahia and the airport.
