This was just a random day out for me and my friend, who I went to meet from Delhi. We took a local bus from Dehradun Railway Station bus stand to Landour. It cost us ₹70/- per head. After getting down at Landour, the first aim was to find the Landour Clock Tower, from where our short trek to Lal Tibba began.
After walking approximately 5 kms from our start point, we reached the scenic Lal Tibba or Red Hill. There is a little cafe up top which has a telescope on the roof which enables you to view the Kedarnath and Badrinath peaks and also the Tibet border. You can either buy an entry ticket for ₹100 or you can buy food with which the ticket would be free. At a height of 2275 ft. above sea level, this is the highest point of Mussoorie. The views of the snow-capped mountains are breathtaking!
While getting down, we stopped at this famous Café to satiate our tummy needs. The food was delicious but the views from the Café's balcony were even better! The Café is a little expensive but the views make it worth the money. You can also stop at the famous Char Dukan to sip a hot cup of tea.
As we were heading down towards the bus stand, we viewed one of the most special sunsets of my life. The sun melting in the lap of the mountains is an utter delight to the eyes.
While walking back towards the bus stand, we saw the sky changing shades from yellow, orange, red, pink and finally purple, setting the sun down at last. We decided that a plate of hot momos in the mountains that too in the evening cannot be denied. At ₹30, these veg. momos with a view were pretty amazing. Finally, after realising that we probably have missed the last bus to Dehradun, we ended up sharing a taxi cab with a few other tourists, which after
negotiating cost us only ₹100 per head.
Finally, the trip ended with us reaching the Dehradun Clock Tower and taking a local bus to our stay at ₹10 per head.
A single day, with less than ₹1000 spent, it was a wholesome trip with a short trek, some scrumptious food and amazing views.
