Paris can be reached By Air, Bus & Train depending on your originating location. If you are travelling from within Europe you can travel by bus or train. Bus tickets are usually cheap compared to train. However if you happen to travel from Amsterdam do experience the high speed train (TGV). Although its expensive it's worth an experience.

Where to Stay? How to communicate? How to commute?

Try to stay within 30-40 mins from the tourist locations. Book in advance using Booking.com or try Airbnb.com. Although Paris has an extensive metro network , its prudent you don't stay too far & lose too much of time in travelling alone.

Locals will respond in French except in tourist locations. You might also experience the same while booking metro tickets at some stations...so it better to have a local 4G sim & use google maps/translate .Buying SIM card is not that cumbersome compared to India. You just pay & get a pre paid SIM card.
