Bhutan is a South Asia country also known as Land of the Thunder Dragon. It is surrounded by 3 borders; Tibet in the north, Sikkim and West Bengal in the west, and Assam and Arunachal Pradesh in the east. Phuentsholing is located near the India Bhutan border.
Here are the 6 places you shouldn’t miss when you are in Phuentsholing;
1. Karbandi Monastery
2. Phuentsholing Viewpoint
3. Zangto Pelri Lhakhang
4. Phuentsholing Market
5. Amo Chhu Crocodile Breeding Centre
6. Torsa River Side
1. Karbandi Monastery
My sightseeing started with Karbandi Monastery also known as Rinchending Goemba.
You can visit the monastery between 7 AM to 6 PM. You can enjoy the panoramic view of the Phuentsholing town.
2. Phuentsholing Viewpoint
You can visit the Phuentsholing Viewpoint or Peeple Drangra in the evening and enjoy a mesmerizing view of the Phuentsholing town as well as the Bengal plains. You can enjoy the mountains and the Torsa River and take some Instagrammable photos.
3. Zangto Pelri Lhakhang
This is also a monastery located in the Phuentsholing Town Center. Zangdo Pelri Lhakhang is one of the best places to visit in Phuentsholing. On the ground floor, there is Guru Rinpoche’s replica along with 8 differently manifested life-size idols and paintings depicting the life of Buddha. You can visit here any time between 8 AM to 6 PM.
4. Phuentsholing Market
There are many shops in the Phuentsholing Market selling home decor, clothes, fashion accessories and much more. I purchased Gho from a shop. Gho is the national dress for men in Bhutan. You will find things a little cheaper here compared to Thimphu and Paro.
5. Amo Chhu Crocodile Breeding Centre
The Amo Chhu Crocodile Breeding Centre should be on your list.
The best time to visit is during the afternoon. You can enjoy the live feeding session during the afternoon. It is very close to the Phuentsholing Bus Station and you can visit any time between 9 AM to 6 PM.
6. Torsa River Side
You can reach the Torsa River Side on foot and no vehicles are allowed. This is undoubtedly the best place for a morning walk.
So, from my point of view these 6 places you shouldn't miss if you are in Phuentsholing.
