Day 1

Took a sleeper bus from Delhi to Rishikesh.Bus was supposed to drop us till Natraj Chowk but dropped us somewhere outside the city. From there , the bus operator had arranged sharing autos ( we didn't have to pay) till Natraj Chowk.

From Natraj Chowk , we walked to our hotel which was near ISBT

On the first day , we mostly explored on foot .We walked to Ram Jhula.

From there , we walked to Chaurasi Kutiya/Beatles Ashram. It is a part of Rajaji Tiger Reserve and covers a large area with lots of greenery. The entrance fees for this place is 150/-. The place mostly has old abandoned buildings , meditation rooms with some graffiti . Unfortunately , there is hardly any maintenance of these old buildings/rooms but you can go inside and click some nice pictures.

We spent 1-2 hours exploring this place. It also has a canteen where we bought some refreshments.

After exiting , we started walking back towards Parmarth Niketan for the Ganga Aarti. We still had some time before the aarti so we stopped at a place called Kaafe for some snacks.

It took around 1 hour to reach the parking spot and from there we had to walk for around 1 km to reach the temple. There was a long queue and it took some time for the Darshan .

While returning ,we asked the driver to drop us at Neer waterfall (Locally known as Neer Gaddu).Bought tickets and had to walk for around 1.5 km to reach the waterfall. The slope was steep , so it was more of a trek than a walk.
Unfortunately ,couldn't spend much time there , as we had to go back to the city and catch our return bus as well.

We were really worried as there were no autos or taxis available to return to the city.Fortunately , a city bus stopped for us.

After reaching the city , I collected Ganga Jal from the ghats near Ram Jhula and we had dinner at Chotiwala by the Ganges.

Reached ISBT just in time to catch our return bus .It was a memorable trip !!!

Note :

1.Rafting is closed during monsoons.

2.Throughout the city , especially near Ram Jhula , there a lot of shops selling clothes , Rudraksha , souvenirs, etc .You can buy as per your liking.

3.Food at all the places mentioned above was really good .We usually checked the Google rating of a place before going inside.
