Though I started by Jyotirlinga Darshan from Nashik, however while preparing this article was traveling around Hyderabad, hence starting the list from Mallikarjun jyotirlinga. Though my 12 Jyotirlinga Bike ride was includes Chardham as well hence my route was little different. But if one want to do only 12 Jyotirlinga Darshan , this route is best suitable for a Road Trips.
1- Mallikarjun Jyotirlinga: One of famous Jyotirlinga temple located on bank of Krishna River at Srisailam Andhra Pradesh. The temple also provides its spiritual aura as ‘Kailash of the South’ in Shri Shaila Mountain
2- Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga: A beautiful temple located in Sahyadri region of Pune in Maharashtra. River Bhima begins from this place and provides its blessings to people. Tranquility is one word which can describe your experience here.
3- Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga: Nashik the city holds many spiritual faith amongst Hindus. Trimbakeshwar jyotirlinga situated around 30 Km from Nashik City in Maharastra. It’s also considered as the source of holy river Godavari. The river also known as ‘Gautami Ganga’
4- Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga: Located near to Ajanta-Ellora caves in Aurangabad district of Maharashtra. The temple also known as Kusumeswarar, Ghushmeshwar constructed under supervision of Ahilyabai Holkar.
5- Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga: Here Lord Siva placed in an island in Narmada River at Shivapuri Madhya Pradesh. Holds deep faith in devotees also one of the starting point for holly Narmada Parikrama . Stay tuned to my blog on Narmada Parikrama Bike Ride.
6- Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga: Also considered as part of the seven ‘Mukti-Sthal’ as per Hindu believe. Located on holy bank of Kshipra River which passes through deep Mahakal Forest in Ujjain Madhya Pradesh
7- Somnath Jyotirlinga: Considered to be one of first Jyotirlinga, Historically this temple was destroyed and rebuild multiple times. Located in Kathiawad district of Gujarat also known as Prabhas Kshetra.
8- Nageshvara (Nageswar) Jyotirlinga: The Nagnath Temple located coast of Saurashtra in Gujarat. There is a special believe about this jyotirlinga temple is, its protects from poisons and provides liberation from all forms of poisons.
9- Kedareshwar (Kedarnath) Jjyotirlinga: Popularly known as Kedarnath located on the holiest Rudra Himalayan range in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand-The land of Gods: Dev-Bhoomi. The name of mountain is Kedar at around 12000ft height, Kedarnath also forms a part famous Chardham in Uttarakhand along with Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri.
10- Visweswara (Kashi Vishwanath) Jyotirlinga: Located on bank of River Ganga in the holy city of Varanasi, traditionally known as Kashi. You can experience magical evening at Ganga Ghat in Varanasi.
11- Vaidyanath Jyotirlinga: Its believed worshiping Lord Vaidyanath, one can attain salvation. The temple is also known as Vaijnath temple located at Deogarh in Jharkhand.
12- Rameshwar Jyotirlinga: Located off the Sethu coast of Tamil Nadu in Rameshwaram. A prominent mention in Ramayana makes this place more popular along with its unique architecture on shore on Hind Mahasagar
