Travelling is something that is really close to my heart. I can travel in any manner may it be Group, Family, Friends or Solo. But I prefer to travel alone because you get to discover a lot more when you are off on you own, no one to stop you or to hold you back. Plus when you travel with groups many of these things might not sound so lovely. So here are the things that I love about travelling solo:
The Rush
I don’t know about you guys but I always get this crazy/dicey Rush the day before I am to set for a trip. It just makes me more excited about the adventure that is right around the corner. To describe the rush, it is like your heart starts to beat really fast. It’s the same like when you fall in love with someone. “Yeah, I’ve been through that.”
The Packing
I might be the worst packer on the face of this earth but I die to pack my bags. I love rucksacks and I don’t travel without one. Packing is one of the essentials of travelling. Your backpacking skills can make or break your trip. But packing can be fun if you are already in the mood to travel
“Own only what you can always carry with you: know languages, know countries, know people. Let your memory be your travel bag.” – Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
The Journey
Aaaahhh…! The best part is the Journey whether you are travelling by a private transport or a public transport. The feeling or knowledge of travel gives me peace, I see colours when I travel. It’s like I am tripping when I travel “Yep Done that too…!” Plus you also meet interesting people in the course of your Journey.
“The Journey not the arrival Matters”- T.S. Eliot
The Feeling
“Finally, I’m here. What Next? ” Yeah, that’s the feeling I am talking about. That feeling cannot be beaten. The best thing I ever feel is the aura of a new place. It just builds up my excitement level. It practically motivates me to travel till my legs give up. You can only do that when you are travelling solo.
The Freedom
The moment I set foot on the destination, I can taste the freedom in the air of that place. If you ever have felt the same, then that my friends is how freedom tastes like. You can never be free, living your whole life in one city. The freedom of exploring new knowledge, culture and lifestyles of people is what I love the most.
The Peace
Peace is a state where a person’s heart and mind both are stable. Only then can he feel the true essence of happiness. The only time I can feel at peace is when I am travelling or when I am asleep. OH sorry! I can’t feel it in the second scenario.
“To travel is to take a journey into yourself.” – Danny Kaye
The Exploring
I believe that you can only truly explore a place if you have a crave to explore. In order to explore a place you don’t have to be a tourist, you have to be a traveller. I hope you understand the phrase. To explore means to get to know and experience in detail the culture, lifestyle, food of a place and to get all this information in a practical manner or else it just becomes a research then.
“Exploration is really the essence of the Human spirit.”- Frank Boman
Socialsing
Socialising in a new city being a traveller is hard but not impossible. Trust me this will be one of the best experiences of your life. There are a lot of online platforms where you can meet a local host in a city and get to know him and then socialise within his circles. This way you get a better understanding of culture and food of the place.
“All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveller is unaware.”- Martin Buber
Living with the Locals
Again this is something I love but this is not possible everywhere. To live with the locals is a great experience and you can get to learn about the lifestyles of the people and to make some new friends.
The Silent Companion
Finally..!! The Most beautiful and sadly the last one. The silent companion, I believe even though you are travelling solo, you are never alone unless it’s a New moon. Here’s a Scenario, You are walking alone on the silent and beautiful streets of a lovely city late in the night. You obviously will feel alone, but just try to take look at that clear sky above you and you will find that this gentle source of light is walking with you the whole time till you reach your hotel. Isn’t that Romantic now? So here’s one word of advice “Never travel alone on a new moon.”????
