Actually this is not a round trip, since I meant to share some hardly explored attractions to the west of Tirunelveli (my native town). Pothigai hills to the west of Tirunelveli where the Thamirabarani river originates, pulls people with its watercourse and the greenery. A drive of 90mins take to Papanasam, the foothills. Papanasam is a spiritual town where many Hindu rituals are carried out. Crossing that tiny town we can see a check post leading to Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve. Tourists are not allowed after 6 P.M.
Wow!!!! The wind slaps with its dense humidity. Here comes the Agasthiyar falls with its splendid water flow 24*7. The Karaiyaar dam make its view after 40-50 mins ride through a wide variety of flora and fauna. Boating in the Karaiyaar dam depends on the level of water. The boating will take to Baanatheertham, again a waterfall. Another road leads you to Servalaar dam. A hydroelectric power project operates here. If there is a matter of luck we can sight some animals on the way. Bears, tigers, lots of monkeys, diversified birds make their appearance. This is more of a localites attraction for a day picnic. But it is impossible to skip a drench in the water course that walk alongside you. A bath in falls and other water channels that cross, will be divine. It is best to spend here a day if you are on a south Tamil Nadu trip.
