Day 1

On 9th September 2021 at 9.30 AM we started for Tirunelveli from Madurai, and reached by 12.30 PM, searched for lodge, put our luggage at Vasantham and went for lunch at hotel Janakiram which was pure veg. Ate unlimited rice plate at Rs.100/-   No chapati in riceplate, if you want,  it is extra Rs. 30/-  Then at 4.00P.M. we went to visit Nellaiappar Temple by auto Rs.120/-. Temple is surrounded by shopping stalls and sweet shops. It is heavy traffic area and hard to get space for parking.
It is an ancient beautiful Hindu temple and is beautifully painted from outside also. This temple is one of the most famous in the Tirunelveli city, being built 2,500 years ago. Clustered Musical Pillars are the unique feature of this temple. It is a wonder that how such Pillars were carved out. When we struck the pillars, gives you sound of different musical instruments. The craftsmanship of pillars and sculptures is unbelievable. Till date no one knows how they did it. Temple is dedicated to lord Shiva.  God here is named as Nellaiappar and goddess is Kanthimathi. Temple has lot of amazing sculptures and has a 500 year old temple car.  It is a beautiful place to visit and enjoy the ancient art and architecture.  The temple complex covers an area of fourteen and a half acres. we spent great time at the temple.
