Usually I am always late to wake up in the morning. But when I have a plan to spend my day doing some birding, I will be the first one to wake up.
Started my journey approximately at 5am from Digboi to Maguri beel.
Maguri beel is a wetland situated in Tinsukia district of Assam. It is about 15km from Tinsukia town.
It opens itself to the river Dibru at a point, which makes it a combination of both lotic and lentic water body.
I forever wished to stay peacefully in a corner of the nature. This is a place where you get a very close view of thousands of Migratory birds. The most beautiful thing about these places is the sound of the birds chirp which leaves you with immense happiness.
One can explore both grassland and wetland birds in this place.
WETLAND:
We hired a small boat to drift on the beautiful wetland and got to see many wetland birds.
GRASSLAND:
We went on a small trek for about 2km to see the grassland birds also.
I was lucky to see the Endangered swamp grass babbler or swamp prinia. It usually occurs in the plains of the Brahmaputra and the Cachar district in the state of Assam, India and in nearby parts of northern Bangladesh. It lives in a variety of habitats with tall grasses or brushes. This bird is very shy and also not static. It was very difficult to get a snap of it . But atleat I could take a picture.
Plants, insects, snails and fish, the beel has a place for all.
Fishing is one of the main source of income for the residents people out there.
Feels like I just went by heaven.
