Marottichal is one of the less known hills in Thrissur district of Kerala. Though not recognized by the Kerala tourism department, the place is a host to several trekkers. Located in Thrissur district, Marottichal can be reached by driving around 25 km east from Amballur, NH 47. Direct bus services are there from Thrissur bus stand. A one hour trekking can take you to the top of hill. On the way you have several streams of water. At the top end you have a tall waterfall, at about 2 km walking distance from Marottichal bus stop. The waterfall has several branches at top. Walking through the cool shade of forest will give a great pleasure.
The hill is also a grazing area of wild elephants, there are two waterfalls, one is in the downside and one is in the top of the hill, its a hidden beauty of nature.. i have been there several times but still i love to go there any time , one day me and two of my friends went there in a evening .. we were little late ,its about 1 hour trek but we did it in half hour through the deep forest ,and the top the view was awesome ,there is a waterfall over there we can take a bathe ..its gives the feeling of taking shower in our bathrooms..the water was cold and fresh.. one of my friend was like Mougli he have long hair and all.. so we did a shoot there and named it as "the man cub"
