An unexpected day break duty and an another day rest in my Railway life help me to plan a days trip from my working town Ramanathapuram to Gangai konda Cholapuram via Trichy , Darasuram , kumbakonamm. By 9 PM of 25 September I caught a train to trichy , by 1.15 am I reached trichi and rested for another 2 hours in the waiting Hall. After 1 hour sleep,
day started for me @ 3:30 am at AC waiting Hall in Trichy railway station. After 2 hours wait caught 5 am Chemmozhi Express to Thanjavur . Reached Tanjavur by 6.45 AM , had a nice filter coffee from Kumbakonam Iyer coffee shop in Tanjavur railway station. New to the new city and a RPF officer in uniform guided me that a share auto will take you the Mighty Brihadeshwara Temple with just 10 rs. Reached the temple by 7.15 , the initial entrance to the temple shows you how powerfull the Chola were , and there acquisitive architectural capability in those eras , I almost spend my two and a half hours in this site , but this time my stomach was asking was some food , had two Dosas from an Iyengaar Hotel and left to Darasuram @ 10 Am , a 39 KM journey from tanjavur . Reached by 11 am and had an 850 metes walk to the site , never expected such a marvellous site in this small town again spent an hour here and one old guy took me all the important sites in this temple. Later by 12 pm I left to kumbakonam a 4 km journey from Darasuram , by this time the scorching heat of the sun making me tired , drank bottles of water to escape the heat of the sun, a 15 minutes journey in the bus reached me to kumbakonam bus stand , this place is stuff packed with lot of temple and temple ponds , a travel through any four sides of this temple will take you to a famous temple after taking a 1 hour rest inside the premises of a temple I left for my final spot of the day Gangai konda Cholapuram a 40 km journey from kumbakonam , another Heritage site maintained by Archeological survey of India , these Mighty structures will definitely be a gift for a travellors who wishes to travel into the heart of ancient Indian empires...... My 340.6 Kilometres journey from Ramanathapuram came to an end in this Chola built structure .........
