History:
The city first rose to prominence during the reign of when it served as the capital of the empire. After the fall of Cholas, the city was ruled by various dynasties. It has been a part of independent India since 1947.
Travel:
We have travelled from Kumbakonam to Thanjavur by road. It is around an hour journey and covered beautifully with greenery alongside the roads...
You can feel refreshed with coconut water and freshness in the air. It was more like a day trip where i wanted to explore more of the history and culture.
I love seeing architecture and different Heritages.
So now talking about the most beautiful
Brihadeeswara Temple. It is the temple of lord Shiva situated at the south bank of River Kaveri. It is one of the largest south Indian temple built by Tamil King Raja Raja Chola between 1003 to 1010 AD..
Its so peaceful and beautiful.

---Brihadeshwar Temple is one of the tallest temples in the world.
---Designed that the viman does not cast a shadow at noon during any part of the year.
---It is the first complete granite temple in the world.
