Situated along the shores of the Andaman Sea in the southwestern region of Thailand, Phuket emerges as a sprawling island abundant with natural wonders. Its expansive landscapes boast pristine white-sand beaches, lush jungles, towering hills, and diverse wildlife. Adding to its allure, Phuket Old Town captivates visitors with its chic boutiques and vibrant array of colorful architectural marvels.

Before spending 4 days in Phuket, here are some essential points to keep in mind:

Currency: Thai Baht is the official currency. You can compare the exchange rates before your trip.

Power Voltage: The standard plugs in Phuket are Type A and Type C, with a voltage of 220 V.

Payment Options: While Phuket primarily operates on a cash basis, some establishments accept card payments.

Sim Card: You can purchase a True Move sim card at 7/11 convenience stores for mobile connectivity.

Apps: Consider downloading Grab, similar to Uber, for transportation, and FoodPanda, akin to Deliveroo, for food delivery services.

Best Time to Visit Phuket:

The optimal time to explore Phuket is from November to April during the dry season. While Phuket welcomes visitors year-round, the tropical climate brings heavier rainfall and monsoons from May to October.

For those seeking sunny beach days and clear skies, December to March offers favorable conditions, although occasional rain showers may occur.

How to Get to Phuket:

By Flight: Phuket boasts an international airport, serving as an ideal entry point for your Thailand adventure. You can check for flights on platforms like Skyscanner or Make My Trip. The airport is situated in the northern part of the island, requiring approximately 1 hour or more to reach popular accommodations. Prices in Phuket generally tend to be slightly higher compared to other parts of Thailand.

Getting Around Phuket:

Phuket island spans a vast area, making it impractical for exploration on foot. Fortunately, there are several transportation options available to navigate the island.

Renting a Scooter or Car: For optimal freedom in discovering Phuket, consider renting a scooter or car. Chai Motorbike Rental Phuket, located in Phuket Old Town, comes highly recommended for their professional service. Ensure you have your international driver’s permit. Additionally, Chai can assist with arranging onward travel to other islands.

Songthaews: Local "buses," known as songthaews, operate across the island, although they may not follow a strict schedule and can be challenging to locate. While we've caught songthaews from the Rawai area to various destinations, finding one for the return journey can be uncertain.

Taxis: Taxis are readily available in popular areas and offer convenient transportation, albeit at a higher cost. Expect to negotiate fares, as prices can be inflated.
