Do you want to live in your painting, you painted in your childhood 😍 ? Ofcourse Yes...right ? I had painted similar painting like below picture in childhood and able to capture the same in Pichavaram village of Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu.

We've grown up with the fact that trees carries its roots in soil, but let me tell you mangrove trees are exceptions.

Mangrove are trees that live where the ocean meets the coast, and they are special because they grow in saltwater. Their roots form a refuge for many many fishes, make the playground for water creatures and creates beautiful views for people like us 😇

Pichavaram have second largest mangrove forest of the world which spread over 1,100 hectares and joins the Bay of Bengal. More than this it's the house of 177 species of birds as per stats and uncountable fishes as per experience.

Altogether for 1 Day trip, Its a must visit place, which you can keep in your bucket list.

How to reach ?

Through own vehicle : Clubbing up Pondicherry and Pichavaram could prove as well-thought-out, as Pichavaram is 70 Kms from Pondicherry and took 2-2.15 hours.

Through Bus : You can take Bus from Pondicherry to Chidambaram district(60 Kms) and from Chidambaram to Pichavaram (15 Kms), Buses will be easily available, and terminates the place where you can take tickets for Boating 😇

Boating Tickets Cost ?

Majorly Two kind of Boats are available, Rowboats and Motorboats. I would recommend to go with rowboats for multiple reasons.

Tickets cost are inversely proportional to your bargaining skills, If you are good at negotiations ticket costs are low . General Costs are :

Row Boat - 4 Persons - 400 Rs - 2 Hrs

Motor Boat - 10 Persons - 1350 Rs - 2 Hrs

Timing - 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Take the tickets and get ready for mesmerizing and fascinating views, mangrove trees, flurry waves, chirping birds, narrow canals and boat operator's stories filled the day with absolute delight.
