Tamil Nadu is All Set to Host it's First International Kite Festival.

In this Tamil Nadu debut event, you will find all types of kites, some with unique shapes and designs and others with unique colors. To everyone's surprise, many of the kites have been handcrafted for this event, especially.

Flyers from Thailand, Malaysia, the USA, and India will be a part of this global event, in its first edition in India. Guests may also like to have a look at the demonstration of hand-designed kites from the flyers of Malaysia and Thailand.

Along with all the fun that the visitors will be experiencing throughout the festival, there are various events planned aside from kite flying. Experience a musical concert organized by Thaikkudam Bridge, musical fusion on the beach, face painting, children's activities, and a day-long food carnival.

13th August: Saturday 12 noon onwards - 9pm

Musical Fusion (6pm onwards): An instrumental performance by the Veena Virtuoso Kalaimamani Shri. Rajhesh Vaidhya for 90minutes.

Followed by a vocal performance by various singers such as Nithyashree, Anand Aravindakshan, and Diwarkar.

Entry Pass:

1. Adult Entry Pass - Rs.150

This pass allows you to access the following zones:

Kite show, Musical concert, Food Court, Kids Carnival, General Area

NOTE : Entry passes will not have a seating arrangement.

2. Kids - Silver Entry Pass (Seating) - Rs.350

“GOLD / SILVER PASS” is valid for the full carnival zone Including VIP Seating for the Musical Concert.

3. Adult - Silver Entry Pass (Seating) - Rs.600

“GOLD / SILVER PASS” is valid for the full carnival zone Including VIP Seating for the Music Concert.

4. Kids - Gold Entry Pass (Seating) - Rs. 600

“GOLD / SILVER PASS” is valid for the full carnival zone Including VIP Seating for the Music Concert.

5. Adult - Gold Entry Pass (Seating) - Rs. 1000

“GOLD / SILVER PASS” is valid for the full carnival zone Including VIP Seating for the Music Concert.

NOTE: For every day we can book a different pass; however, for the 3rd day (15th August) only the Adult Entry Pass (without seating) of Rs 150 is available.

Information on the kites used for the festival

A kite shaped like Thiruvalluvar or a Kathakali dancer and many more are set to grace the Eastern sky on the shore of the Bay of Bengal in all its glory.

For a kite to be prepared, the time period can be between two weeks and a month. The biggest kite of the festival is measured up to 20 feet and the smallest up to 3 feet. The technique of making kites varies from country to country.

One of the teams has prepared a kite-shaped version of Thiruvalluvar. Another one is preparing for the Mamallapuram temple itself.

Ideally, kite flying festivals should take place during December or January, when the wind conditions are ideal. However, in one of its kind, the festival is being organized during the off-season of kite flying. Hence everything is unique about this unique festival.
