Day 1

11:00 PM: Took a semi-sleeper bus for Madurai from Chennai. The bus wasn't very comfortable (Pandian Travels) and would not recommend you to book at least this bus operator.

Day 2

9:00 AM: Reached Bus stop and took an auto to reach Meenakshi Temple. The compound of temple is huge and you're not allowed to carry mobile phones and baggage inside. You can avail locker services outside the compound at a minimal price operated by the temple authorities.

2 Temples, 1 Museum are the main attraction of this compound. The architecture is brilliant and totally mesmerizing.

11:00 AM: Completed the Darshan and moved towards a famous shop nearby to drink 'Jigar Thanda'. Highly recommended to drink it.

1:30 PM: Entered Thirumalai Naikkar Palace and read about the famous king of Madurai.

3:00 PM: Took a bus for Rameshwaram.

7:00 PM: Reached Rameshwaram and checked-in a boutique hotel named Crown Plaza (a home-stay would have been better than this place).

Slept early to wake up early.

7:45 AM: Reached Dhanushkodi beach point where the rough and strong Indian Ocean meets the calm and soft Bay of Bengal.

It was a stunning view and couldn't leave that place any sooner.

10:00 AM: Took a stroll to Dhanushkodi Town, also known as The Ghost Town (around 4-5 kms). The stretch had some amazing views and a beautiful sand to walk on.

11:00 AM: Reached the ghost town and explored all the abandoned places- Church, Railway Station, Water Tank, Houses.

12:00 PM: Took a shared auto back to Rameshwaram.

1:00 PM: Visited Rameshwaram Temple again for 'Lingam' Darshan.

1:30 PM: Hiked 6 kms to visit a temple with footprints of Lord Rama. It's on the top of a hill which is considered to be the highest point of the Rameshwaram island.

3:00 PM: Hiked back and reached APJ Abdul Kalam's house.

4:00 PM: Visited former President's Memorial.

4:30 PM: Visited Pamban Bridge which was destroyed in 1964 tsunami leaving all people dead who were on the train passing that day.
