Point Calimere or Kodikkarai or Kodiyakkarai is a sleepy village, rather the last land portion of India from where, as the Dolphins swim, it is just 30 kms to Sri Lanka. Kodiyakkarai was (in)famously associated with the Rajiv Gandhi killing for being the entry and exit point for the LTTE. But my reason for visiting this place was to harmlessly sight the blackbucks, wild horses and the occasional wild boar. And yes, the flamingoes whose trajectory extends from Iran, Rann of Kutch, among others. During peak season, around 15,000 flamingoes can be seen creating a sinusoidal wave in unison.
