Delhi- Chennai-Kanyakumari-Rameshwaram-Dhanushkodi-Chennai-Delhi
Never really thought that Tamil Nadu has soo much to offer. This state amazed me with its beautiful beaches, Pamban Bridge, mouth watering food n amazing views. I so love India as each state is different from the other be it in food, culture, language, relief features etc.
Chennai really amazed me with so many wonders.
Highlights of my trip:
1. Pamban Bridge- One of it’s kind train / road bridge built over Bay of Bengal.
For just 10₹ we had lifetime experience of going over this bridge which connects Pamban island with rest of India. After Mandapam station is Pamban station and the last point is Rameswaram. Pamban itself is a beautiful place with serene beaches.
2. Dhanushkodi - Ghost town
3. Muttom beach
4. Triveni sangam at Kanyakumari- confluence of Bay of Bengal, Arabian sea and Indian Ocean. Different shades of blue is truly a nature’s wonder.
5. Vivekananda memorial & Thiruvulluvar statue

Kanyakumari is the southernmost point of peninsular India and the meeting point of three oceans-the Bay of Bengal, the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean. I found this place to be peaceful n relaxing with mixed feelings of being at the tip of India. There are plenty of temples, churches n waterfalls n beaches to visit.
An unspoiled and a quiet town is part of the enchanting Pamban Island. The town is connected to the rest of the country via the famous Pamban channel ( train & road bridge over the waters) . The Mannar Island in Sri Lanka is about 1,403 km away from Rameshwaram.
Rameshwaram is regarded as one of the holy places of the Hindus and a must visit during the Char Dham Yatra or the holy pilgrimage.

" Ghost Town"
Dhanushkodi is a small, sparsely populated beach town on the coast of Tamil Nadu. In the 1964, Dhanushkodi was hit by one of the worst storms India has ever seen. Cut off from the rest of the world, this town seems untouched by time. While the rest of India is vying to get ahead in the race for prosperity, this town seems frozen in history, reflecting it grandeur and beauty.
Places we went -
Dhanushkodi beach
Church & station ruins
Its a hidden beauty as only locals go there. I just loved this place. I’ll let the pictures do the talking.
How we reached there in just 70/-₹ pp is another story .
On the last day we did what I love the most - shopping. T Nagar is heaven for shoppers with plenty of sarees shops, jewellery n lots more. I went to Saravana Selvarathnam and bought as many as 16 sarees with the lowest being of 128/- ₹ . If you are short of time like us that’s the place to go.
We had a few hours to spare before our flight so we went to Marina beach. It was crazy crowded as it was weekend. With plenty of food stalls , swings, horse riding, taro card reading n what not. Finally with the setting Sun we bid our goodbye to Chennai n boarded our flight to Delhi.
Other places to visit in Chennai includes Mahabalipuram, Sri Parthasarathy Temple, Birla Planetarium, Kapaleeshwar Temple, Thousand Lights Mosque, Fort St. George, Connemara Public Library, Guindy National park, ancient and divine temples.
The house of Kalam is the residence of former President of India, an accomplished scientist and an inspirational figure. This is the humble place where he was raised by his parents along with his siblings. The house is now turned into a museum where tourists can get a glimpse into Abdul Kalam’s life and his achievements. Also it has a lovely shop.
