JIGARTHANDA - A popular beverage of MADURAI made out of milk, almond gum, sarsaparilla root syrup, sugar and ice cream. Jigar means heard, thanda means cool. There is an old jigarthanda selling shop on the way to Thiruparankundram, original jigarthanda shop from ancient days.
MURUKKU SNACK- It is also called as Manapparai murukku which is a very popular snack of TIRUCHY. This snack is salty, made crunchy that many times you have to break the round to eat. Flour plays the major part of this snack. Murukku is usually a filler snack, popularly sold in many parts of Tiruchirappalli.
CHICKEN KUZHAMBHU- Popular dish of kongunadu cuisine-COIMBATORE, chicken kuzhambu is a signature dish of this city. It is cooked with spices, added to coconut, and curry leaves. They are served to rice and roti.
ULUNTHU CHORU- A popular rice dish to eat in NAGERCOIL also called as Nanjilnadu. Ulundu means Urad dhal, which is available with skin. It is fried, added to spices, and served hot with curry, sambhar and Periyar.
HALWA - This sweet made its record in 2nd century AD. The first step of halwa kadai in TIRUNELVELI was known as Halwa shop owned by Mr. Jegan Singh. Over years it turned as Irruttu kadai halwa. A semi solid sweet, consumed hot, that would slide straight to your stomach is something to taste.
DOSA- One of the authentic dish of RAMESHWARAM, you should try for breakfast and dinner. Crispy dosa’s are called as, murugal dosai. They are stuffed if you want to, else having plain is better. They are accompanied with, chutney, sambhar and filter coffee.
KOZHIMILAGU - One of the authentic chettinadu cuisine from KARAIKUDI, signature dish, which means chicken pepper or peer chicken. It is also known as chicken perattal. It is roasted added to spices, where pepper is prominently seen. They are served as gravy for naan, chapati.
PAROTTA- They are flat bread in crispy form, that has lot of layers, which is served with chicken curry and chicken fry in TENKASI. The shop near courtallam falls is popular.
SAMBHAR VADAI- Surrounded by chill, cool, hilly region sambhar vada is a popular dish to taste in OOTY. Vada are dipped in hot dhal sambhar, topped with raw onions, that you will end up gulping.
URUNDAI KUZHAMBHU- It is a popular dish of PUDHUKOTTAI, that used to be served, under Raja Raghunatha Raya Thondaiman palace, as pushapanjali. This dish is made out of, raw banana that is also known as urundai koftas.
