This was a first time to all of us in country far from home. We had come to Sweden, to study, to make our career. We met each other at the residence where we all live, in corridor rooms, next to each other. After settling up and buying the bikes, we started exploring the city, marketplace, country side and now wanted to do something new!
After a week in Sweden, it was known to us that we can manage with English. Because all the people here speak English, as good as English! They are polite and welcoming to any foreigner. So we decided on 1st of September, Saturday, that we are not getting bored of sitting in our rooms. We wanted to get out for a bike ride!
It was a 15 Kms long way to the lake we headed to! Best part is that in Sweden, we have dedicated bike track! where only bicycles go. This is helps faster moving automobile traffic to keep their pace and no stress for bicycle riders. We also could use our cameras with a hand riding on the other! Also at the cross roads, bicycles are given first preference to cross. The car waits till you pass!!
The town was well planned, Paved and clean. And no worries of the pollution. We could fell the cool breeze and moisture in the air. If we are riding in a place like this, perhaps we will never get tired and stressed!
This tower served as a beacon in case we get lost. Because it was so high, we could make it out from pretty long
This bridge over Kinda kanal, which passes right through the town, brought to my thought the classic movie scene. I have seen quite a lot of movies portraying this kind of bridges. Mostly as a place to love, roam and ride fast through. Or even in fight scenes some cases.
There was a park after crossed the lake and it was from right out of a romantic movie!! I could see lush green every where and wanted to sit chilling for some time. We had a small photo session there.
We soon crossed the town limits and got into the highway. I was wondering if we have a dedicated bicycle track after the city/town limits. Much to my wonder, we were still in a bicycle track beside the highway and out of speeding traffic.
We arrived at a small colony called Ekagen. I think people living over there were the owners of the land beside. It was a calm and beauty full place.
After crossing that small human inhabited colony, it was a vast wilderness and only lush green surroundings. Very less vehicle traffic and human intervention.
After 15 kms of riding in the cool breeze and enjoying the scenes around, it was this mud road into even more wilderness! This particular road gave me a thought of the movie "Wrong turn" I was feeling that man eaters would be lurking somewhere in the woods. Good that no one showed up till we were there! Had I been alone here, I would have scared to death!
After all those riding experiences and fun, the lake is here. Now time to relax.
There were these benches to sit and relax, to have some coffee or may be a bite. This is where we had our lunch. Yes, we planned and brought our lunch boxes here!
It was a huge lake, surrounded by hills and forest. Hence the mud road into the forest to reach this view point. There were some old boats, surfing boards etc,. Giving the hint there will be some sports at some point in the year. Not only the lake was refreshing, but the ride we took in itself was great experience. It is quite a memory we made being new to this land!
