It was a family trip to the famous pilgrimage in south india, Srisailam. It is one of the 18 shaktipeethams.
Day 1 we travelled from Hyderabad to Srisailam in car. It took almost 4 hrs.
We need to cross nallamalla forest to reach Srisailam. We were given jute bags at the beginning of the forest to avoid throwing thrash in the middle of the forest. It was all well organised. It was raining that day..so we could barely see any animals near the road. We managed to see few deers and a lot of monkeys after the rain stopped. We then reached Srisailam.
We took a room in shivaji spoorthy kendram. This is constructed in the memory of hindu king Chatrapati shivaji. the architecture is so authentic and realistic. This place has statues, fort models and history of Chatrapati shivaji all over. After viewing this magnificent place we had lunch there itself n started to the bhramaramba Mallikarjuna temple.
Temple opens early in the morning at 5am and closes at 3pm and reopens at 6pm. So we went at 6pm. Camera and phones are not allowed inside. Anyways there are cloack rooms and mobile and footwear storage sections at the entrance. Men and women are allowed with the dress code of pancha and saree respectively otherwise are not allowed inside. So better bring them with you else you'll have stalls nearby selling them so no problem. We had a pleasant darshanam. We were very much amused to see the great sculptures and skilful architecture of the temple. Spiritual vibes took us to a tour of positivity and strength. The streets near the temple were filled with refreshments, fast food, breakfasts and lot of shops selling good stuff like toys, puja material, ayurvedic products etc. We ended the day with dinner nearby and went back to the room.
Day 2 started early to give a quick second visit to the temple and go on with the rest of the schedule. Breakfast starts real quick on the streets as well as hotels near the temple. We had delicious south Indian breakfast at hotel ilapuram
Then we headed to temple n had a pleasant morning in positive vibes. Then we went to phaladhara panchadhara, a place near by where there is sweet water flowing from in between the rocks. It has got it's own historic important and a origin story. The place was so deep down the road. We had to get down almost 200 uneven steps to reach the spot. But it was worth all that! It was so beautiful. There were even photographers to take quick pictures there.
This is one of the pure veg restaurant near hotel. It has north indian, south indian, Chinese and tandooris at little high prices. But the ambience is clean and worthy. We had south indian and north indian thallis for Rs.120 and Rs.160 respectively.
Then we headed to sikharam, the top most place at Srisailam. It has a historic importance that, if one could see the temple top from there through the space between two horns of nandi located at the place, all sins are forgiven.
This place is located at the entrance of Srisailam. It has got a historic importance that, lord ganapathi at this place is witness that one has visited Srisailam. So don't forget to pay a visit here ;)
There are many other beautiful locations with historical importance located at around the main temple. The roads are also so clean over here. there's not even a paper on the road. Rooms are also at very affordable prices. One definable have to pay a visit to this place once in a life time. It was a perfect family time dipped in beautiful architecture and holy vibes all over the place.
