Monsoon is here and who doesn't want to find some peace in hills. And sudden plans are always exciting.
Around 250kms from Hyderabad there is a beautiful religious and serene abode known as Srisailam.
We started our journey around 5pm from Kondapur and stopped near some local Dhabas for dinner before Achampet.Since it was already late around 8pm and the map was showing another 7 hrs to reach Srisailam we asked the locals over there for the route.
They told us that the route is inside from Amrabad tiger reserve and it closes at night after 9:30 thats'y it is showing longer route to you.
We took a room in Achampet and stayed there at night.
We woke up early morning and started towards srisailam.Since the Monsoon has arrived to take away the heat we had been facing entire summers ,we were lucky to witness drizzling on our way and spotted a beautiful rainbow.
The route was inside of Amrabad Tiger reserve and it was a bit foggy early morning we spotted Monkeys all our way.
We stopped for Breakfast(There are seating points inside the reserve route only there you can stop as per the guidelines).
Tea with hot idlis made a yummy breakfast combo.
We reached Srisailam dam around 9:30 am and the view was amazing.Hills and clouds made the view spectacular.
We reached Temple around 10:30 and since we had to keep our phones outside so we dropped our phones in the car.
There is a normal queue for temple 150/- then there is a queue that will take a bit faster and you will be done with the darshan in half n hr max 300/- Also there is a VIP queue as well 5000/- If you have a small child entry is free for the parents.
We took the 300/- queue and we were done with the darshan in half n hr.
The temple complex is beautiful with old and new carved structures built with intricate designs.A mix of old and new designs. The gates are in a form of Gopuram newly painted.
There are small temples inside. There is a area where the snake gods are worshipped. It is believed that Lord Shiva and Parvati came and stayed here with the name of Arjun and Mallika. The Shiva linga was also worshipped with local Jasmine known as Mallika so the name is Mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga.
There is another temple known as Pagal ganga for which you have to go down around 800 steps and you can view beautiful river Krishna and lush green Nallamala forest around or else you can take a ropeway to get down to the hill and from there you can take a boat ride to reach there.
Nature has a habit of Soothing your soul. And once you fall in love with Nature you will start loving yourself
We started from Srisailam around 12 and had lunch in nearby Dhabas. You can binge over sumptuous Andhra Meals comprising of Dal,Sambhar,Rasam,Fry,1veg curry ,1dry veg, chutney, rice and some curd.
We reached Amrabad tiger reserve around 4:30 and since it was about to close we were not able to go inside. But just for information it is open from 9-5 and the ticket price is around 1200 for 10 people. They will take you inll in a big jeep you can book it full or you can share it with others.
On your way back you can spot many spots worth taking pictures and some bullock carts as well.It will be a worth village experience watching the lush green fields and forest around.
There are many local vendors selling fresh fruits and vegetables that you can buy and relish on your way home.
