As we progress with travel stories from Sri Lanka, I would like to talk about a beautiful and historically rich place today. Its going to be totally different virtual treat than you had last time from Pidurangala.

Whether you are a history buff or not, some ancients just make you wonder how the golden era of kings and culture and arts would have been and Polonnaruwa is one of that ancient city.

The city used to be a thriving commercial and religious center of Sri Lanka, around 800 years ago. The city had been royal capital for both Sinhalese kings and sever kings of the Chola dynasty. With numerous ancient structures like temples, statues and stupas, the archaeological park of Polonnaruwa is a must visit and a sight to remember.
