June 1st. 2016, Day one to this beautiful valley "#Sonamarg" J&K was so exciting and thrilling that we all were waiting for the classes to start. Our camp was based on 9000 ft above the sea level, surrounded by snow covered mountains and next to the Jehlum River, was giving me a feel of heaven, In such weather and surrounded beauty of nature made me lost and I forgot about the mountaineering course.
first day of our training started, had know idea about next, until first meeting with the trainers, We got our day plan and when i looked at it , I was like noooooooooooo. .....
waking up in the morning 5:30 to 6 Am .( if you want to avoid the Que for using toilet then plan waking up 4:30 or 5 am.)
No access for warm water.
Breakfast should be finished by 7 am.
7:30 to 9 am endurance
getting ready by 10:30 am to start the training
coming back by 4-5 pm (lunch will be served at 1:30 )
rest and attend brief about the next day activity
7:30 to 8 PM dinner
9pm bed time
Initial 10 days were hard to adjust but after that I got use too of the environment and started liking the daily activities. The hardest part was climbing the snow covered mountains and overcoming the fear of height, walking miles and miles for training and coming back exhausted. after all this hard work and training ,It gave me courage, stringent and skilled me for survival at any situation.
And the day came when I received my badge and mountaineering completion certificate. I had a mixed feeling, I was Happy to completing the course and going home as well as sad to leave the group and the place. I had a wonderful time there and whenever I think of that time I smile.
